It is of note that the American Acadamy of Hemotology has a similar view of "main components". That was a line of reasoning I have hit a brick wall on.

So not trying to get into a big thing here, but honestly, the UN thing just never really did it for me. I think it was poor decision making, but being an NGO doesn't make you an affiliate. it hink its a stretch and most JW's would have a very easy time shrugging it off.
Am I alone on this? If I am, no problem.

A ha! Norway. It explains so much. I have been to Norway, Sweden, and Finland as well as Denmark. Some of the finest JW's I have ever met. It is key to understanding how you are able to do what you are, without being carted out and thrown in the street.
EVERYONE: This is a culture thing. I too was wondering how he would have had such comparatively reasonable responses. In Scandinavia in particular, there is less of a heirarchy view of systems. For example, if you are a manager of a company, you wouldn't neccesarily just tell who is "beneath" you what to do. Usually meetings and concensus drive the group forward. Very socialist, and very everyones thoughts matter kind of culture.
As long as you continue the respectful dialogue, I think you may be able to actually get somewhere. Now out here in america, you probably would have been talked down to, and been dealing with more easily flustered people because of our particular cultural hang ups. I wouldn't expect the full on revolution you may be desiring, but any good is still a nice move.

Greetings! From an Existent JW!
by Ethos ini'd like extend a greeting to all members of jwn.
i've been a lurking by-stander of this forum for approximately 6 months.
i think this forum's best moments can be attributed to the involvement of actual jw's in doctrinaire discussions and to heated (though not always dialectic) debates.

@Ethos
Welcome. I just started up a couple days ago. I think there is much good to be had by healthy respectful debate. Many here wouldn't agree for various reasons, and I can understand why. Many people have been very hurt by mistreatment, so try to be understanding of that persspective.
That being said, lets talk. Start a thread. :) Blood is my big issue. I simply cannot see any justification for this to be a matter someone would be disfellowshipped for. I think it has to be a conscience matter by the very definition of what that means.
I also still go to meetings for the sake of family and friends. I for the most part, have been dealt with fairly by people in my life that have sincerely cared about me. Yet I have also had run ins with the Pharisees of our time.

How to help a friend who has left the truth!!1
by caswinchester ini was after any advice or suggestions about how to support a friend who was born and raised in the truth, my friend is now 22 and has tried to fade out but his parents are having a hard time accepting this, don't get me wrong i understand why they are, but the stress and pressure he is under is taking it's toll on him.. i have tried to be there for him as i use to study with the jehovah witness's some years ago but i don't think i can or will ever truly understand what it's like to be born into a family of jehovah witness, i understand why his parents are shunning him and they only talk to him when they think they have come up with away to get him to go back to truth.. .
i would like to hear any real life exsperances and how you where there and helped a friend deal with leavign the truth and accepting that your family will most likely never going to talk to you again.. .

Send him here. Its best, and people can speak his language. Maybe he stays, maybe he goes, but at least he OWNS whatever decision he makes with open eyes.

Again everyone, I appreciate the support. I realy do. I hope to be able to contribute to the community in a unique way.
@DaCheech - The employees are kind of in a unique spot. They are younger than me and free to leave. I haven't gone to any extremees yet, and as far as they know I am just a "free thinker" of sorts. If they quit, we would hire other people. My employees while valued, hold no real control over my buisness.
@DPL - I will PM you. Seems like we have similar situations which really is nice to know. Even though you know it may not be true, it is easy to think of yourself on an island.
@Lisarose - Yes I don't have particularly negative situations being my reason for having doubts and acting on them, but truth be told one in particular was a catalyst for my issues currently. It made me awake to the idea that I had given a stranger, a complete moron, power over my life and my life decisions, even though I didn't mean to. I decided to take a step back and see that the only way to not make it about ME, was to be able to do some proper research.
@jwfacts - I appreciate the response. You have put much work into funneling your viewpoints. I agree that the JW's have no real high moral authority on which to stand. In dealing with my wife however, I have someone who got the best of the organizations offerings, without all the fat if you get my meaning. So her reality is different that most of ours. She is from another country. All the family, cousins, children, are all loyalists and generally good people. While my experience is more akin to yours. This is why personla experience has to be taken out of the equation in order to effect real and permanent change. Trust me my man, I am only a month or so removed from the idea that I could do more from the inside trying to make a change. My self deception is not that far in the rear view mirror. :)

The Daily Show said it best. They said Islam was around 700 years younger than Christianity. So what were Christians doing around that long ago? Acting a fool etc... Hilarious.
