Republicans just can't let go. They will run their party further into the ground and it won't do anyone any good in America. We need the give and take, the ebb and flow of the parties. What is ruining the party? The Republicanized industrial media complex. Glenn Beck, FOX news, and the nonsense that they get on point with. People have never been so ignorant, with so much information at their disposal. The media has turned into entertainment and nothing more on both sides of the aisle.

What one thing would you say...
by problemaddict inwhile i am still kind of new on my journey here, and may have a mixed bag of similarties and differences with all of you, i am in fact fading away from the religion of my youth.
in doing so, i have mostly been left alone.
meaning, my friends and family generally know i am "having a hard time" with a few things.

Not important.....not special. I assure you.
I think some peopel actually act in accord witht he way their heart leads them, even if they can't see that deep down the eventuality of what they believe would lead them to a terrible conclusion. Basically, they mean well.
Got an elder and his wife tonite. I have been inactive just long enough to now have people "concerned". The nice part is, the Pharisee guys have kind of just written me off already. So I am really not being bothered at all, except by people that I believe have good hearts and act from a kind place.
Just trying to get them the right message that doesn't get me in hot water, but gets them to think. Last night went well, and someone is thinking.

@ outlaw - Yes but who does ALL THREE. Ha. You know this default arguement.
@ Ravens - Color me surprised, but the person who invited me out actually started telling me why he was thinking seriously about stepping down and all of the nonsense going on in the hall. It was a very interesting conversation.

Do you regret confessing your sins to the elders?
by asilentone inyes, i do!
i did it 20 years ago, but the elders still remember what i did, sometimes i wish they never knew about it.

I don't let things go to JC status. :)
Hey I was reading JWfacts story, and I noticed he was able to get all of the documentation on him they had at the branch in Australia. Is there something like that here in the USA? A freedom of information act for religious authority? I would be interested very much in doing that. I am still a member officially, and wish to remain so. i am sure it would be looked down on, but still....I really could give a crap.

@Ethos. I agree with BOTR pretty much across the board.
I have read these quotes before a they are readily available and I believe originally compiled by Hal Flemmings. Hal is a good man.
I only speak for myself, but I believe this to be true without some others being aware of its validity. The issue is not teaching things differently. The issue is not neccesarily the wacky claims of WT's past, or the current try for the 9th time teachings. Quite frankly, religions change their minds all the time for a host of reasons. The issue, is attributing these things to GOD. The issue is furthered by the fact that if you disagree with stated teachings by whoever is currently heading the branch, then you will be disfellowshipped if you do not allow your thinking to be readjusted.
That is simply not biblical. Fasle teachings are not to be tolerated, but even Dyotrophese (sp?) wasn't disfellowshipped. Excuse the crude analogy, but its like I'm in the elevator with one other guy, I smell something, and he turns to me and tells me its me.
Realize, I still attend meetings although with less frequency, and have pioneered, served abroad, served in the congregation, have friends at bethel, etc... It would be EASIER for me and my family to ignore the hypocricy. The branch simply cannot have it both ways. In expresing my sentiments to local elders and friends, I find a mixed bag of reactions. Many people know something isn't right instinctively, and others are concerned for their "place and nation" so to speak.
Cnsider this. In a new WT study article, and in SEVERAL over the past few years, the writing department has focused on listening to the elders, patience when not understanding something, and the need to obey despite that lack of understanding not making a way for Satan. The example given EVERY TIME has been that of Moses vs Korah and his freinds. I of course do not have to tell you who is who. Here is where it gets important. They are drawing a parallel between themselves and Moses, as well as those who question Moses, with those that question them. How can you draw a parallel with Moses, while at the same time claim no divine inspiration, no "special" relationship with the holy spirit, and no "gifts" of the spirit as it relates to knowledge or understanding right along with tongues and healing? You simply cannot. The two are not analgous.
This I believe is what BOTR is talkign about in his opning comments. A few reasonable sentances plucked out of the WT are no more damning than a few off the rocker sentences plucked out of the millions of sentence written. The culture those words have created though, cannot be denied. And to suggest falsehood at anytime came from Jehovah under the guise of light getting brighter and brighter, is at best disrestpectful to your creator.

There is no longer a need to have a member of the annointed, which USED TO BE analgous to the FDS, alive on earth throughout all time.
It occured to me that this answers how over the centuries, there can still only be 144k, despite all the partakers. They just got written off the books.
My thoughts as well. They are stearing the ship through iceburgs, moving very slowly, small turns at rapid intervals. Its really kind of brilliant.
I still think the only way to reach anyone who is willing to believe this stuff, is to address the punative measures of the faith by simply having an unrecanted difference of viewpoint. It is indefenseable. In my personal experience, nobody really cares about whether they said people from Sodom and Gom were going to be resurrected or not. Not even me. It just doesn't stick. Here they will not even notice it either.

So just a quick redux.
Those at pentacost were annointed and are part of the 144K, but they are not the FDS.
There is no longer a need to have a member of the annointed, which USED TO BE analgous to the FDS, alive on earth throughout all time.
With 1919 as the selection date, Russel would be annointed, but not part of the FDS.
This would make Rutherford and subsaquent leaders along with who they choose, part of the FDS.
Other annointed people, are NOT part of the FDS.
The FDS only consists of people claiming to be annointed, even the new guy who is 47.
Does that about do it for bullet points on the "new understanding". Just a side point, I have already had a few people tell me, this is what they already thought was taught. Hilarious!

@ TS, supposed to go to dinner tonite. I can see where you are coming from, but the sincere thought of another person isn't something i want to shut down, even if I feel it may be misguided.
@Heaven - Sounds like that could be a way to go depending on the mood. I am fairly locked into scripture still, although I am kind of at the beginning of this whole thing.
@Londo - Yeah i don't think this dude is much of a 70 years kind of conversation guy. He is probably a JW more for social reasons than anything else. Came from a hard life, found JW's, life changed, yadda yadda.
I like the suggestions. Keep em coming. Thanks for the time.
