good fences make good neighbours. just because I put up a fence does not mean I am prejudiced against my neighbour. but even if I am, and i might have good reason to be, it is my business. The right to abstain should be maintained. good for the Supremes. they have sung.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Baker Who Refused to Bake Cake for Gay Couple
by Simon inseems like such an obviously correct decision to overturn the previous overreach - it should never have been necessary to go to the supreme court but happened because the rights of the religious were being ignored.. as the fundamental level, no one should be able to compel you to work for them or to provide services that go against your beliefs, and certainly not have the government be able to force you to comply.. if this was allowed there would be so many unreconcilable situations that would clog up courts over nonsense.. i also have little patience for these activists that intentionally look to be offended.
it really doesn't do their cause any good to go round looking to make trouble for people.
it's also misguided because it ends up strengthening religious rights over effectively stupid issues.. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/04/us/politics/supreme-court-sides-with-baker-who-turned-away-gay-couple.html.

find another baker, it is discriminatory to pick one that objects. The rain bow persons are the most gifted, artistic, in my experience.

The strange death of Europe
by waton inbbc: polices at airports stop "truant" families .
with millions of irregular migrants drawing illegally on the public purse, many areas even unsafe for the police to enter, police families in their homes threatened by dissenting mobs, .
police give tickets to families who leave early for the vacation, to get empty seats at better prices.

So What Drastic Money Change is Next?
by OnTheWayOut inokay, they cheapened the product by getting rid of hardcover books.
they reduced printing of mags.
they drastically reduced the number of pieces of printed paper that members would "place" in people's hands in various ways, the biggest one being that they put them on a cart and don't encourage people to take them.they cut d.o.

In wt doctrine it was the idea, that the big money change would come in the great tribulation. they would thrown the gold , (das Geld) and silver (l'argent) into the streets, but of course not because it would be worthless (and easily collected by wt operatives), but because soldiers had the nasty habit of opening up people, to find the goodies that they had swallowed before an invasion.
Sorry, did not want to give wt a closing scene for next years convention closing video -- featuring butcher knifes instead AK 35s.

Hate speech laws are fascist.
agreed, a very good point. Free speech is legally suppressed, branded as an offence. but
I wished Orphan Crow or other computer nerds here would revive the well discussed threads pertaining to this particular case, which is about other issues as sparrowdown touched on.

The Ride
by eyeuse2badub inthe ride!.
about 2 weeks ago i went on a one day motorcycle ride with about 50-60 other jw’s.
(at least most of them claimed to be dubs) it’s an event that 2 jw fleshly brothers put on every year.
-
waton
there was not even a mention of jw stuff all day long
of course not. even at the hall, before or after the meetings, there is no discussion of jw stuff. If you ever would bring up the subject: you'd be considered a trouble maker.
The only jw stuff discussed before the meetings by some, is the practise session for the insane demonstrations, or after the meeting in the back room, the "not inheriting the kingdom" themes.

To ride a motorcycle , you have to have good balance where do you find that many JWs with that within a 100 km/60 mile radius?

For our Canadian EX JW's ... Your own Rambo
by Giordano inmontreal — it is a plot worthy of hollywood: a courageous, one-eyed soldier single-handedly liberates a dutch city during world war ii, tricking a german officer into believing the city is surrounded.just in case there are any doubters, he rampages through the streets throwing grenades, firing his rifle and — in a final act of defiance — lights the gestapo headquarters on fire.now more than 70 years later, the soldier, léo major, a onetime farmer from montreal, is getting wide recognition in canada after an hourlong documentary about his life was shown last month on radio-canada, the national broadcaster.
the news media dubbed him “quebec’s rambo.”.
from the ny times:.

Canada is what keeps us protected and we keep them protected.,
Hope so, a great country, now the buffer zone between the US and Russia, great warriors too. They have the town of Ladysmith in BC to celebrate their part in putting down the Boers, Dutch in South Africa, the other side of the globe.

We bought a pipeline that leaks like a sieve
by hoser init looks like justin trudeau and his comrades caved in to kinder morgans artificial deadline and bought the transmountain pipeline for 4.5 billion taxpayer dollars.
its not a bad deal if they actually finish the expansion.
if not we just bailed out an american company and are on the hook for 4 and a half billion.
-
waton
and is not the trans mountain pipeline to be build purposed to sell the hard to extract Tar Sand oil offshore, so we have less Alberta supply oil here, and keep the domestic price high?
