so i'm working on another (fictional) book project and i need some historical help.
i came into the borg in 1973, just as they were starting the new elder arrangement.
i know that before that there was a presiding overseer who (as i understand it) ran the show.
under the congregation servant (position for life) were servant positions (now ms) , literature servant, accounts servant , magazine servant , in very small congregations these were held by sisters even. other ???

how many others have noticed how common it is for active jws to ostracize and shun other active jws?
as far back as i can recall, jws have had an ongoing problem with cliques within congregations, and special needs talks would be given from time to time to address that trend.
but, it seems to me that the practice has become even more pronounced with entire congregations actively shunning other congregations.
I always wondered though how all these judgmental Witnesses who ignored me were supposed to rise to the occasion to help during the "great tribulation
It is actually the other way around, will you rise to the occasion and vouch for them? because the Great Tribulation (with the anointed already in heaven), comprises the judgement of the "sheep" and the "goats" . If you were a "little one" in their eyes, maybe in Jesus' eyes these shunners will be of no importance to him too (he will judge the way they are judging), so--, bye bye, clic judgers,-- for good. (unless you vouch for them). pity them.
gluttony seems to be a sin that jw's like to ignore .there are several scriptures that point out that gluttony is a sin, proverbs 23:20-21 "do not join those who gorge themselves on meat".....also i read somewhere that 1% is the number of disfellowshipped jw's each year......how do prove someone is a glutton and not just a person who love food???

Morpheus, and that piece of paper is not the bill you see when you leave an "all you can eat" buffet restaurant. The amount is always the same, but: The amount of food that can be devoured in these places is astounding, 2 Prayer meals, to start giving thanks, when finished,--- asking forgiveness, for--- gluttony.
Only bested by the habit of vomiting in the bathroom to have room to eat more. Size bsw, might be a hormonal issue, not only volume of food.

i say “could” because options three and four has some loopholes.
2a) you takes sides in the affairs of the "world" and for legal/publicity reasons, wt does not dare to disfellowship you, they declare that you disassociated yourself. really

i'm taking a university astronomy course, and i must say it's really fun to read about this field.
anyway, i remember the jws used to use jupiter (and probably still do) as an example for how unique and special our solar system is (and thus designed) -- namely, that jupiter protects the earth from astroids, comets, and meteors.
convincing if one doesn't know any better, especially circa 1994 when jupiter stepped in front of a comet for us... but this isn't the full story!

Only half of the dying want/have funerals at the hall here. perhaps they do not want their name desecrated by the attendees, and wt propaganda of course.
jehovah's witnesses have had to revise their chronology and various doctrinal interpretations due to events and scholarly corrections.
but the one teaching where they have been consistently ahead of the curve is the importance of jehovah's name.. .
i'm going to run through a (necessarily selective) timeline of jw events and scholarly publications that demonstrate the phenomenal success of this teaching in the last days.
Jehovah is such an ugly word.
Albert Einstein used it to describe an ugly situation, when it become apparent in 1915, that "god" would not use his good offices to stop the useless slaughter on the front.
no one doubts jesus extensively spoke about god’s kingdom because he said: “i must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of god to the other towns also, because that is why i was sent.” (luke 4:43) yet christian sects are divided over the subject whether jesus used god’s name or not.. it is said that god’s name jehovah was revealed to moses.
however jesus knew moses was not trustworthy.
(mathew 19:8) moses born and brought up in egypt could have been influenced by egyptian knowledge.
Jesus, or what his biographers decades later wrote about him, was ignorant of creation reality. He too, was probably searching for the one that made it all. In deference to the great place he (and we) live, the enormity of the task of creation, ( he struggled to work with hard wood and primitive hand tools), He probably choose not to demean that possible person (like his possible father) by calling him names.
