I'm not sure. It's from January, 2013, and the site says the offender now lives in Peterborough, ON. I'd be curious to know whether he's participating in the Door-to-Door™ Preaching Work™, or whether his current Congregation™ is aware of his conviction.

WESLEY HUBERT MILLS
EX-CHURCH ELDER SENTENCED FOR INDECENT ASSAULT ON BOY
The Saint John Times Globe - Posted: Jan 9, 2013
A former Jehovah's Witness church elder was sentenced yesterday to one year in jail for indecently assaulting a young boy in the late 1970s.
But Wesley Hubert Mills, 74, will be able to serve his sentence in the community.
Provincial Court Judge William McCarroll decided to impose a community-based sentence after a lengthy recess and a long explanation of the concept.
That will allow Mr. Mills to serve his sentence in Peterborough, Ont., where he now lives. At the time of the incident, Mr. Mills was a respected church elder in Saint John. His victim was a young member of the church, who was between four and six years old at the time of the assault.
Although Mr. Mills was convicted on a similar charge in Hampton in 1992, he maintains his innocence, saying that his only problem is being too affectionate.
Judge McCarroll was very blunt with him during sentencing. He said he didn't buy the explanation.
He said he was convinced that Mr. Mills assaulted the young boy deliberately for his own sexual pleasure.
Even so, the judge said he doesn't believe that Mr. Mills is a danger to the community anymore.
The victim, now in his early 20s, testified last month that he had been unable to tell his family about the touching because of Mr. Mills' respected position in the religious community.
After Mr. Mills was convicted in 1992, the victim's mother asked if there was anything that was troubling him. He told the court he was unable to tell her what happened.
It wasn't until last July that he was able to tell his parents that Mr. Mills had sexually molested him.
As a child, he thought his parents knew about the abuse and condoned it.
Mr. Mills had assured him that the sexual touching was something everybody did. The victim said it didn't feel right to him, but he did not believe he had the authority to question a man everyone held in such high regard.
Yesterday, Judge McCarroll said he believed the children in the church would have done anything Mr. Mills asked of them.
They were taught to respect their elders, particularly church elders.
The judge also praised the young man for his courage to tell his story.
He wished him luck and hoped that he was able to put the ordeal behind him. -

Passing a resolution a painful experience
by stillin ineverybody knows it's going to pass.
nobody ever asks if possibly that much money for the circuit overseer's whatever isn't a bit too much, or whatever else the congregation is being asked to agree to.
then the call to raise your hand if in favor of doing the "right thing.

In most businesses, whenever a meeting is held, an agenda with details of resolutions is provided ahead of time so that people can understand the issue, the financial commitments or whatever they are expected to agree to. It gives people the opportunity to do some research and formulate questions that come up before actually going to a vote.
The WTS doesn't do things this way because (a) most JWs don't know how "normal" businesses operate in the first place, (b) they don't want anyone questioning their 'resolutions' - they just want trained seals to put forth a motion, second it and then put it to a vote. And then all the trained seals get to clap at how clever they are.
Meanwhile, at WTS HQ, this is the actual plan:

Lying to children
by jwfacts inzac's first tooth just fell out, and so people are telling him that the tooth fairy will come with money.
zac asked me if the tooth fairy is real.
i am at a loss as to what to say.
-

Ask Zac what he thinks about the Tooth Fairy.
You can tell him "Some people say things are real when they're just pretending." Playing make believe can be fun, and a lot of parents like to play pretend with their kids. If you'd like to do that, it's okay.
The Thinking Atheist podcast had a great interview with Dale McGowan several weeks back on the topic of secular parenting - it would be worth spending 90 minutes or so to listen. McGowan is the author of Parenting Beyond Belief and has a website by the same name. Dale tells a great story about how his son figured out that Santa Claus was "the moms and dads!!" He allowed them to think about these questions on their own - understanding that the desire to believe will eventually be trumped by the need to know, and then goes further saying that these myths and allowing a child to work it out for himself is like a trial run for the myths that religions sell.

Have your prescription meds skyrocketed in price?
by compound complex inmine have, and they're generic.. greetings, friends.. a couple days ago i went to pick up my meds at k-mart (california, usa).
i had $5.00, the discounted price, in hand.
the assistant rang me up for $27 and change.

CoCo,
You might qualify for some of the cost-relief programs that the pharma companies offer. I have a discount card for a couple of prescriptions that my family needs, and my group insurance plan from work picks up the tab for the rest.
It might be worth sending them an email to explain your situation.

Watchtower Society Has Systemically, Methodically Over The Years, Caused All JWs Diabolically To Worship Watchtower Headquarters Leadership [or G.B.]!
by bjc2read in(of course, this will be "old news" to many of you...but, this is especially written for the "newbies" who may not know of the following.).
... i was just wondering .... .
i remember back when i was very active among the jehovah's witnesses, the watchtower society recommended a special procedure they used to do to put pressure upon bible studies of jehovah's witnesses by doing something they called: "directing attention to the organization.

The Bible Teach book (currently the publication of choice for introducing indoctrinating people to the JW belief system) actually denies that the Organization™ is as important to JWs as it really is. Talk about 'bait and switch'!
THE MEANING OF YOUR BAPTISM
23 Jesus said that his disciples would be baptized “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit.” (Matthew 28:19) This means that a baptism candidate recognizes the authority of Jehovah God and of Jesus Christ. (Psalm 83:18; Matthew 28:18) He also recognizes the function and activity of God’s holy spirit, or active force.—Galatians 5:22, 23; 2 Peter 1:21.24 However, baptism is not a mere bath. It is a symbol of something very important. Going beneath the water symbolizes that you have died to your former life course. Being raised up out of the water indicates that you are now alive to do the will of God. Remember, too, that you have made a dedication to Jehovah God himself, not to a work, a cause, other humans, or an organization. Your dedication and baptism are the beginning of a very close friendship with God—an intimate relationship with him. —Psalm 25:14.

Marilyn Zweifel of the 800-why-1914 Helpline passed away yesterday
by coffee_black inmarilyn manned the helpline for many years, and touched the lives of so many effected by the wt.
she will be missed.. coffee .

She was the first ex-JW I ever spoke to - I called the WHY-1914 helpline when I first decided that I had to leave the JWs. I was so scared, but Marilyn reassured me and sent me information to help us sort through our questions.
She will be missed.

TTATTelder:
I was appointed as an elder right when I am starting to doubt things more than any time in my life, right when all this "new light" is coming out, and right before this historical Annual Meeting.
Isn't it interesting how the Holy Spirit™ still allowed you to be Appointed™ as an Elder™, despite having more doubts than you ever have had in your life?? What does that tell you??
When I was first thinking about leaving the JWs, almost 20 years ago, I had to send my oldest kid off to school in the morning and drop my husband off at his job, then drive to a public library across town (where nobody knew me) with the younger kids, and while they sat and listened to story time and looked at picture books, I read one or two chapters of Crisis of Conscience. Over the course of a few weeks, I was able to finish the book. I was terrified to bring it home. It felt very cloak and dagger at the time, but the tone of the book was just as you described - humble, sincere, with a wealth of knowledge, and a desire to share the simplicity of Christian worship without all the hoo-ha the WTS was piling on.
I know you'll find other things to read over the course of the next weeks, months and years, but congratulations on starting the process.

One of my workmates did a roadtrip a few months ago and planned the trip around several Triple D sites. She had a blast.
Apparently there's an iPhone app to help you plan your own roadtrip.

Well, a gift is supposed to be something the recipient will prize and cherish. It sounds like you did right by him. You were thoughtful, generous, organized and went above and beyond, imo.
The fact that he refuses to buy anything for you tells me that he does not appreciate you, doesn't care about what you like or cherish and is a selfish asshat on top of it. Frankly I think his behaviour is far more offensive than a gold cross ought to be to him. You are his WIFE. He promised to love, honour and cherish you, and he pulls a stupid stunt like this?? Tell me, do you feel loved, honoured and cherished??
No wonder you had doubts about making it to your anniversary. Your mistake wasn't buying yourself a gold cross. Your mistake was marrying a JW.
I'd tell him that a divorce is going to be far more expensive than a gold cross. I'd take the watch back too. He doesn't deserve it.
