This whole 'good news' things makes a farce of the covenant god made with Noah. Supposedly the rainbow is the sign of this covenant the 'he' will not destroy the world again with a global deluge. No, he's come up with a better way to destroy the world. He's like the little boy who tells his mother he won't slap his brother again, then turns around and punches him. What a kind loving father this Jehovah is!!

"Good News of God's Kingdom"?
by micheal inwhat's so good about it?
99.9% of earth's population will be wiped off the planet.
humm...(rubs chin with fingers) last time i checked, having over six billion men, women and children destroyed isn't so good.

Do you know?
by Schizm ina certain jw doesn't believe in the 1914 doctrine any longer.
this, of course, naturally gives rise to certain serious problems.
for example, how can this person now continue to participate in field service activities and make use of the publications produced by the wts?

What example would that be... getting nailed to a cross?? No thanks
Boy was I having a bad day yesterday. What I should have said was this:
As far as the WTS following Jesus' example, I see very little of that. Jesus main example was to minister to the poor and the needy. The only help I see the WTS providing to the poorer members of society is the so-called spiritual food. I'm sorry but these people can't eat bibles and awakes.
It's a main tenet of many christian churches to provide food and shelter to the needy. I see the WTS and it's GB to be a bunch of tight fisted misers who are using their free labour pool to deliver their publications; all in an effort to accumulate as much real estate as they can. How is this following Jesus' example, I'm not aware of his ever purchasing real estate? BTW Mouthy, i always picture Jesus with a beard too.

Saying Things That You KNOW Will Get People Going
by minimus inare there certain things that you just know will get some people riled, rattled or unnerved?
on this board, i think if i wanted to tease, let's say, simon, i could suggest that he thinks he's an elder and that's why he's such a control-freak.

Minimus,
I used to get pissed off when I first left the organization. I'd go to gatherings at my Mom's house and there would always be someone there who'd want to corner me. The problem was, they'd all spout basically the same line of shit. The line they all thought would be most effective was "Well if you're not for Jehovah, you're for Satan". After hearing this for the thousandth time I just looked the sanctimonious prick in the face and said "how did you Know?" I then went into a two minute spiel on how we sacrificed goats at midnight and had orgies rolling in the sacrificial blood. He never brought up the subject again.
I finally told my Mom that if she didn't tell her friends to stop pestering me, I might not be able to control what might come out of my mouth. After a few other verbal explosions, that left my Mom embarassed and quieted her friends; I've been left alone. I've been able to visit with my family for the last 20 years with hardly ever any reference to Jehovah.

Cannabis & priestly anointing oil ?
by El blanko inhi there fellow students .... a quick question for you all.
do you know whether in the temple arrangement, the anointing oil used contained flower heads from the cannabis plant?
there appears to be evidence that suggests that the word kineboisin refers to the plant.

Marihuana is no more dangerous than alcohol.
Actually Faraon, It's far less harmful that alcohol. i've never seen anybody lose their mind smoking weed the way they do drinking whiskey.
I used to use Cannabis myself up until fairly recently and stopped for respect of my God given body and also for the reason that I didn't want to deal with the anti-social types I was buying from
Better solution, El Blanko; grow your own and you don't gotta deal with the riff-raff. As far as Cannabis being harmful to one's body, I'm not aware of any studies proving this (and if I was I wouldn't give a rats-ass anyway). If you're worried about the smoke being carcinogenic, try eating it. The only harm I've ever expeinced from weed is to wake up and find all my cupboards and refrigerator empty.
very bizarre, I don't act like I'm a prophet when stoned, just like a friggin hippy
STL, try buying better smoke or mixing it with hash or opium, the results can be amazing.

I can relate. I've been away from the Org for over 25 years. It took me years to get over some of my screwed up ideas, partly because most of my family are still jws. I've still not worked up the courage to actually tell my story here on the board, but I'm thinking about doing it soon.

Well I was going to leave the society but now I am not sure as the hate I see towards those who choose to believe in God are trodden on like trash and I know that in my Congregation at least there is a sense of kindness and peace. I hope you all feel good with yourselves and oh don't let this get to your conscience as I don't think many of you even have.
What a cop-out. Your staying in the organization is others fault. This is a discussion board, all sides are discussed. People not willing to take criticism or enter into discussions on opposing views are better off at the Kingdumb Hall. Have a good Life.

Cannabis has been widely used in many societies throughout history. Modern men are the only ones I know who have actually outlawed it's use. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that the ancient Jews used it in their temple. However SS it sounds like Saul was more likely under the influence of cocaine.

Any Swiss here?
by flower ini'm doing a whirlwind visit to zurich in mid march and since i wont have much time i'm looking for suggestions and insider tips on how a foreigner can get the most out of a 4-5 day visit.
the trip is work related but most of my time will be free.
i'm so tempted to take a few extra days and hop over to italy since i'll be so close but i dont think it will be financially feasable.
