Let's Talk Horror Movies
by LoveUniHateExams inhorror is easily my favourite genre of movie so i just thought i'd start a thread on it.. horror can be done badly and there are plenty of crap horror movies, no doubt about that.
but horror can also be done very well, too - often on a low budget.. plus, there are quite a lot of subgenres - slasher, supernatural, monster movies, body horror, psychological horror, zombie, vampire, etc.. so, do you like horror?.
what's your favourite subgenre?.

"The Calendar of Jehovah God" - a historical tidbit
by OrphanCrow inin 1935, clayton woodworth (editor of the golden age - later the awake!
magazine) devised a 'new' calendar that he proposed was far superior to the pagan calendars that have been used in human history.he wrote a three part series for the golden age (i am not sure if these were actually published) that laid out his justifications for how this new calendar was more accurate and of course, was right in line with the divine plan.
the calendar was published in the 1935 yearbook, but the watchtower magazine later published a retraction to the calendar.

If a current JW heard someone say that Jehovah's Witnesses once had their own calendar with new names for months and days of the week, it would just be "apostate lies". And if you tried to press them on it guess what they'd say..."I'm not here to debate". -

@SnakesInTheTower: You could just give us a TLDR (Too Long Didn't Read) version of events. What did he do?

Watchtower volunteer injuries
by neat blue dog ini was recently talking with a zealous 'sister' who for years was assigned to use a certain chemical while taking care of wt property, only to have it irreparably damage her immune system partly because she wasn't trained properly.
she said there was a potential lawsuit but she didn't want to bring reproach on jehovah's organization.
has anybody else heard of similar situations, of people being hurt or injured in service to the org, maybe even because of them, and taking the loss so the org wouldn't look bad?.

@Tenacious: Thanks man. Those people that thumb down for no good reason are very uptight.
@Giordano: Back when I was PIMI I read about asbestos at Bethel. That explains some of the cancer.

The last generation of JW’s
by HiddenPimo inif you take a moment to look at the demographics of your congregation (if you’re pimo), i think you will notice that the youngest elders are in their late thirty’s and early 40’s.. that is the generation that i was part of when still in as an elder,.
we were last ones to work on all the quickbuilds and the big conventions.
we were the last ones to remember the original jw way of life with the gatherings all the time and the books studies in the homes.

In my congregation I've been hearing a lot of these comments lately: "People say that Jehovah's Witnesses brainwash people. I've never experienced that, but if Jehovah wants to wash my brain then so be it."
"People always say that we're a cult. We're about as far away from a cult as you can get. Satan makes people believe the lies, but they're not rejecting us, they're rejecting Jehovah."
Could those who make such comments be secretly awake? I wonder.

Whoever thumbed me down, see the last three words of the first sentence. Also, watch The Godfather.

Watchtower can fellatiate my phallus. I don't give a goddamn if I get shot in the head by a police officer, or if I should hang myself in my jail cell, or if I'm struck by a bolt of lightning. I'm going to blame someone on the governing body. And that I do not forgive. -

@Wasanelder Once: I've been in a dark mood lately; dark music, dark clothes, and dark meat chicken...
Drumsticks and thighs are the best.
