Good stuff Island Man. Under normal circumstances, that would be enough to cause a few heads to explode.

Chat with Elder, how would you reply?
by awakening inhad a sit down chat with an elder who is aware of my doubts.
we were on the subject of new light, i was saying that if the org changes a teaching then the old teaching was wrong and cannot qualify as truth at the time it was taught, so where did the falsehood come from?.

Was There Anything A JW Said That Made You Raise Your Eyebrows?
by minimus inwe had an elderly pioneer/ms in our hall and he used to like to rattle the elders.
he liked using the "n" word in his comments.
he one time started to comment about the "ni##er pool" that he would observe among the poorer blacks.

Not so much raised an eyebrow, was probably a look more like someone had a pair of vise-grips clamped down on me (got you by the balls).
1. Often repeated comment about there being no rain before the flood of Noah.
2. Hebrew was the original language.

New Policy on Inactive Ones?
by Cynisister inthis may have been discussed, but i just recently was told that a km this past year stated that inactive ones are now to be treated as if they are df'd.

I get the love-bomb (we miss you so much) and the guilt-thing (your wife is so sad at the meetings without you) when I bump into them. The last time I was at a meeting, most of the folks were fine, but I got the cold-shoulder from the more self-righteous ones. Where's the love? WWJD?

International Conventions for 2014 - Landover, MD - What is an International Convention?
by insearchoftruth inhave been out of touch for a while, i see that there is an 'international' convention this year in landover, md (fed ex field) and there are no english conventions in either richmond or hampton, va. what is an 'international convention', is it merely a consolidation of all the other conventions meant to whip up some fervor amongst the masses?.

It used to mean among other things that you would have the honor of hosting (approved) delegates from other countries. So think, big group of happy, waving friends from South Korea - some sporting native garb. Probably won't be a lot of delegates travelling from Somalia or Chad.

My First Special Pioneer Assignment
by fulltimestudent inmy first special pioneer assignment.- part 1.. in australia, western civilization is a thin strip of land, that hugs the coast.
all the major cities are on the coast.
i grew up on the east coast of australia where the great dividing range, as its called, runs parallel to the coast, and limits the extension of cities like sydney and brisbane.

On the plus side though fulltimestudent, you have to admit you learned how to take care of yourself under difficult circumstances. If you could make it through that, you can handle anything thrown your way. At least you have been through some sort of trial by fire. Most westerners, would not know how to cope if the TV went off permamently.

If you truly beleive in the flood of noahs Day ,do you think he would have as apathetic as jehovahs witnesses are today in warning people?
by smiddy indo jehovahs witnesses honestly, sincerely beleive that the end of this system of things is just around the corner, and that they have the role of warning all of mankind of what is to befall them .?
so why is their ministry so blasaise ?
knock on the door ,no body comes knock on the door again nobody comes ?

I wonder how many return visits he had in Australia? Forget about not-at-homes... I wonder if he just left tracts (carved in wood)? Maybe the world was just a smaller place back then (everyone lived within 10km of Noah). But if it was, why did JHVH have to make a global flood? Why did all the animals have to die, what did they do wrong?

UK Government "Strategic Shocks"
by metatron inhttps://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/33717/gst4_v9_feb10.pdf.
this is a document discussing challenges that the uk and the rest of the world may face in the future.
on page 91 and 92, it mentions possible events that are rather unpredictable which could change the world radically -- "strategic shocks".

I would agree with the change thing. Could be sudden, could be like falling down a staircase. Either way, it is coming...

China already had their rise.. I think we are looking at a race to the bottom where everybody will be a winner, only the 'prize' will be different...
