just before the month ends i would like to congratulate the watchtower magazine for completing its run of 138 years of publication.
the first copy was printed july 1st 1879. well done watchtower!.
as a reminder, let people remember that in its time this magazine has one of the world’s largest print runs for a periodical.
Interesting that I recall a certain fanfare being associated with anniversaries of the WT publication. I don't see any fanfare for this 138th anniversary let alone build up to the 140th. It's almost as if they don't want people to think about the length of time associated with the heralding of the Kingdom.
I think they only made a meal of 2014 just to try and pour water on apostates laughing at them.
is it a common practice for jw parents to kick their children out of the home, if the child doesn't want to be a jw.
(even though their not disfellowshipped they will still get kicked out for not going to meetings etc.??).
do other religions encourage kicking family members out this as well?
Depends on the parents and the behaviour of the kid.
In my experience it's not common for a child to be kicked out unless the relationship has really broken down to a large degree. Where I have seen it I have to say that the child has often been behaving really badly but I am sure this is not always the case since much depends on the attitude of the parents.
Sure, religious differences and having a DFed child does cause conflict and family disruption but I think it would be stretching things to suggest that children are summarily thrown out of the family home for relatively trivial things or simply for saying they don't wish to attend meetings any more. It can and does happen but is not the norm in my experience - usually the opposite. It's not until a child is DFed that their living arrangements are called into question.

july 27, 2017. summary.
Can't wait for this to be in whatever the current version of "Watching the World" is.
so i was reading thru a fb feed about poor chester bennington and in relation chris cornell, there were some rather heated and unusual (or usual whatever you may think ) comments... no disrespect to believers but since leaving the jws i just see this type of discussion as lunacy.
... "chester is going to hell ,he killed himself so it's black and white in god's word ."..
"why would a loving god send a person who suffers from mental illness to hell?
Second point. Even if medical science is wrong and she was actually dead, how does she know the guy opposite her husband was Jesus? It could've been Muhammad, Thor, Baphomet or some other undiscovered deity.
Because her mind would have shown Jesus looking exactly like how she has been conditioned to think Jesus looks. A Muslim would see Muhammed, a Buddhist would see a typical image of Buddha and so on.
The mind is an incredible echo chamber of confirmation bias.
i'm just curious with all the happy clapping that is now going on with the singing at the conventions.
what has been the reaction to it with the r&f.
has anyone ever commented that it reminded them of a pentecostal revival meeting.
Fortunately didn't happen at the Brighton UK convention but given the increasingly emotionally based atmosphere at conventions I am not surprised and don't think most Witnesses would have a problem with. When it happens at a normal KH meeting is when a real sea change will have occurred.
there was a part about pine trees in california mountains at regional convention.
the brother/organization lied about how old they are.
he said oldest tree is 4200 years old when it is actually 5000 years old.
They mentioned something about this in the talk at Brighton as they said something like 4600 or 4700 years old as I whispered to my wife that that was interesting considering the flood was about 4400 years ago and would have destroyed all the trees.
march 22, 2017 to all convention committees re: discontinuation of physical distribution of convention releases.
They don't seem to realise that the less they produce the less they will receive in donations in a downward spiral. It's as if they think people are going to keep on donating anyway. A misapprehension you'd think the last two decades would have thoroughly disabused them of.
The credit card machines at Brighton seemed to doing a brisk trade every time I went past them. It only ever seemed to be females getting their plastic out however.
so i have been inactive for about a year and a half.
been baptised for about 35 years.how long would it take before they give up on what i do with my life, for example, i celebrate all holidays now, and have even posted on social media pics of me and my family celebrating.
do they even care anymore?
Addendum...
The simple answer is that if they want to DF you then they will. You're baptised and celebrating a false religious holiday.

You can get away with birthdays depending on the local elders. If they catch you doing Christmas or anything else religious then a number of things can happen.
1 - nothing. They ignore you, maybe spread some things locally and wait for you to resurface at the meetings before offering "counsel".
2 - they knock at the door, confront you and invite you to a JC. If this happens you 99% will be DFed and an announcement made.
3 - they view it as following another religion and therefore disassociation by your actions (one of the few valid reasons for this). An announcement will be made. In principle this is the correct action per org instructions but is not always followed as option 1 or 2 may be more convenient for them
