Have we become what we despise so much?

the majority of members who tend to join this forum have been hurt possibly even traumatized sometimes to the point of wanting to end their lives.

upon joining the forum, new members are welcomed with open arms, welcome messages start pouring in, "likes" are freely given, a false sense of security is promoted where a member is free to speak his mind without having to worry about the wt gestapo.

again, similar to how potential converts are welcomed and "love bombed" upon entering a kh for the first time.

There is far more difference of opinion and debate here than would ever be tolerated in any Kingdom Hall. It is true that sometimes there are strong disagreements, occasionally proper arguments and verbal fisticuffs. On the whole however, that does not prevent people coming together when needed. There is no way this would happen at the Kingdom Hall.

I guess it is fair to say that WT apologists and Creationist get short shrift however this is not because their opinions are not respected but generally because their approach is way too infantile.

One of the most refreshing things about releasing my mental shackles is being able to disagree with people yet still enjoy their company and maintain friendships.

is anybody aware of any kingdom hall builds going on or any kind of ldc activity?

i've been wanting to ask this, and committeechairman's question at the end of this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/289353/ldc-semininar?page=4&size=20, moved me to go ahead and ask.. i've kind of wondered whether the org leaders got rid of rbcs and instituted the ldc arrangement because they wanted to be able to stop or slow down construction without it being obvious.

if the rbcs were still in existence, it would be obvious that there's nothing (or almost nothing) going on (if that really is the way it is) because rbc personnel would be idle when they were used to being busy.

the 2016 january tv.jw.org broadcasting has a clear message: jw.org needs more money!.

the 2 months of donation increase is not enough: the thousands of projects are not a 2 month project.. so: thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you (heh heh heh) and send us more!

personal conclusion: if i had any doubts that the society is sincere, this openly money grabbing has made my perception complete.

Of course Lett has the right to have a watch and rings. They can be any price if he's paid for them or someone has gifted them to him.

The point is about appearance.

The GB live in an ivory tower where their needs are taken care of by others. They supposedly live on the same stipend as the rest of the Bethel family.

With that in mind, it's at the very least, in poor taste to appear on a worldwide broadcast going out to many millions of people, many living in very poor circumstances, wearing the trappings of material success and repeatedly beg for contributions.

People can be pragmatic about the first class world wide travel, luxury accommodation, exclusive trips provided by wealthy brothers and so on. Most of this people do not see first hand. It really starts to grate and breed resentment when it's pushed in peoples' faces over JWB whilst begging for more greenbacks over and over again.

The evidence for watches being expensive models has been presented many times here and elsewhere.

Letters and outlines like these are made available to elders via the protected areas of jw.org.

There are some who are awake to TTATT but still serve as elders and have access.

There was a brother in Bethel who leaked some more restricted content but I think he got discovered.

There are enough Bethelites with big mouths to enable news to leak out however.

It is a common misunderstanding that DNA is written in some sort of language or that it contains "information".
It doesn't.
These things are simply metaphors.
The problem is that it is a very apt metaphor and every textbook and web article about genetics will refer to language and/or information.

Given it is such a useful and ubiquitous metaphor, this made me think about how one could successfully explain exactly why the genetic code containing within DNA should not be considered as "information", even less a language.
