Haven't had a card for YEARS even though I was a serving MS until a few months ago. Had issues with the blood doctrine for years so never bothered. Blood was the first crack in my faith, closely followed by confusion over Genesis, evolution, the flood and the JW's approach to science in general.

Counteract jw.org August 2014 Campaign!
by jw07 inthere was a letter read at the last meeting indicating a push to advertise jw.org door to door in august 2014.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/273040/1/four-boe-letters#.uv8l4vldv1e.
many of those who the witnesses prey upon will no doubt search for additional information on the internet.. let us use the extra attention against the watchtower!.
- there are many of us on active on this site.. - most of the widley used search engines (google, yahoo, bing etc) show autocomplete results.. .

IMHO Alexa is not the be all and end all of web site stat monitoring since it's stats capture depends on the user having the Alexa toolbar. It's of interest and of some consequence but not 100% proof of the rankings of any given site.
Regardless the stats it has gathered do point to a interesting extrapolation that users with no or some college education are over represented and those with graduate or full college education are under represented.

Were You Ever Comfortable Going From House To House?
by minimus inbecause i was raised a witness, i don't think i was "uncomfortable" knocking on strangers' doors.
(weirdo).. but as i got older, i simply didn't want to bother anyone so i was at there door for no more than 30 seconds.
at the end i hated being there..

Never comfortable. Just about tolerable. I've not done proper first call work for months. Still putting a report in to keep under the radar.

Move along, nothing to see here.
There will be a little flurry of activity perhaps but long term it'll be same old same old. I've not had one elder even offer to visit after I stepped down over 6 months ago. They all said how I would be missed and that I needed to keep myself strong but not one has bothered to come round and see me or my family. Not that I care, but they don't know that.

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

I know a brother who hanged himself after being caught with child porn on his computer. He had been abused as a child himself. Very sad.
There was also a sister in our hall who suffered for years from depression that killed herself.

Marriage Consummation - emailed question has me stumped
by jwfacts ini received an email from a jw that got married, but the wife never had sex with him.
they were together for a period of years.
he told the elders, but they said there was nothing that could be done.

I wonder why a marriage cannot be dissolved if the State allows it, especially if no scriptural laws are broken? If your mate cheats and you re-consumate the marriage, that is considered forgiveness. The bond of " one flesh " was broken by the offender, and it was up to the non-offending mate to make that union again or not. So if that bond of "one flesh" never took place, then only thing left is a legal arrangement in the Country you live in. If the superior authorities allow it and you were never "one flesh", there should be no reason why the relationship cannot be dissolved. In essence you would have been dating without a chaperone for years if no sex to place.
The Elders should just say, " We are not the masters over your faith."
Brilliant bit of satire ;-)
Seriously - when you think that the the God of the OT was OK with daughters shagging their old man, slave girls being thrown out to be gang raped, minimal sanctions for murdering a man to bag his missus, polygamy etc. then it's no wonder the modern day rules around marriage lack any common sense and, in the worst cases, fellow human feeling.

At what moment is it the point of no return? The test seems to be whether it is the signing of the wedding documents, or going back to the honeymoon suite? I would imagine a person could pull out of the marriage during the reception, and not get disfellowshipped later for adultery, but once they have spent the first night together that is the point that they are considered married. (If they pulled out of the reception, they would have trouble over breaking a vow instead.) It seems it is not the sex act, but the imagined sex act of the first night that cements it in the eyes of the elders.
There was a couple in Hobart congregation that went for the honeymoon and came back separated. They were told they were not free to remarry, and are both single to this day, well into their 60's. The rumour is he is gay, and realised/admitted that on the honeymoon.
As soon as they have said their vows and are announced as married then they are married in the eyes of WTS. I've never heard of a circumstance where the couple have broken up after the vows but before the talk ended, or before signing the register but I would bet my life they would be considered as married in the latter example. The former example is a tricky one but surely is pretty much non existent in reality.
Consumation has nothing to do with it unless there is some bizarre rule that we've not come across. If they broke up at the reception and then one slept with someone else then it's adultery in the eyes of WTS. The elders might refer a situation like that to Bethel for clarification but the marriage contract had been entered into. I can't recall seeing anything that suggests the perception (real or imagined) that a couple have consumated the marriage affects the situation as far as adultery and freedom to remarry is concerned.
