No! No! No! This can't be true? brexit? No!
by purrpurr init seems britain has voted to leave the eu in a move of total madness!
the markets are already in free fall and the moronic bigots who campaigned for this are celebrating the demise of our country .. i can't see how a 49-51% split can be democratic?
there is still the postal vote to come in, maybe there's hope in that?

Who are the "Inactive"?
by thereishope inthis was my starting point in this journey of rediscovery, and i've made great strides, but here i am again asking the same question.
all this talk re the rc and the shunning of the inactive ones.
there is no announcement made obviously about "shun sister so-and-so, as she is inactive.

You are spot on the money BB. I am sure there will be a minority of dubs who might start being harsher with some relatives/associates. I am also sure there will be some who will mistakenly think they need to shun all inactive ones. I get the feeling however that actually most will dream on through the talk, hardly notice it and the status quo will remain. It's far more of a trigger point for the exJW community than those inside.
There will probably be a WT down the line repeating the counsel which will get more attention but I doubt that will be able to be interpreted any differently to the content of the talk.

Printing presses, bye... bye...
by sp74bb inbye... bye.... no more new printing presses for jw.org... the growth is so tremendous (irony...).. all printing work in europe will be arrange in the next month only in selters (germany), but no renovation or upgrading in printing presses is expected... it will be a full outsourcing :).
a worldly company axel s******* will be used.
this company is known to be printing bild newspaper... the interesting part of it is the logistics will be as well outsourced.

Centralising printing in a geographic region and/or outsourcing is still not giving up on print. They cannot fill the carts with nothing, they cannot expect to simply show everyone at the door a video, not everyone can or wants to use a tablet at the meeting for everything.
It is inevitable that the volume of print material required has decreased significantly but it's still there. If what they are doing is true then it makes good sense and it's win win all around.
There is no way the R&F will see it as any kind of indication that Jehoover is no longer blessing things but I would love to have been a fly on the wall when the GB heavies told the British branch committee they were losing all of this and being relegated to a second tier sorting office. That really would have wiped the smile off their smug, self obsessed faces...

Which also makes you wonder what the Chelmsford plans were about at all? Did they think it was all going to Germany from day one or was the construction put on hold whilst a plan about printing and outsourcing was formulated and actioned?
Right now we only a little to go on. We have a letter and some rumour. I hope it's not too long before we get some concrete info one way or the other but it all makes sense and has the "ring of truth"...

Interesting OC. I'd not noticed that from the accounts so it's a good catch.

If this is true then it is quite funny as the printing presses have always been used by the Bethel tour guides as the billy big bollocks highlight of the tour, evidence of how amazing Jehovah's organisation is. Of course it is quite impressive, especially if you have never seen a large press before. Not so impressive when you consider every large printing organisation has such facilities, especially newspaper printers.
If true then it would seem Jehovah's requirements are not so special that a worldly organisation cannot come in and take the whole printing and distribution operation over and do it not just for the local branch but for other previously significant branches as well.
Also amazing is the fact that this would only be being done if it made financial sense. They must be at, or very close to, the point where the cost of running the presses (paid for up front), infrastructure (paid for up front) and labour (volunteer) are greater then the ability of the income to support it.

So this will happen as soon as within the next four weeks? Do you expect this to feed out into JW land quickly/officially or will it not be mentioned?

Really? Axel Springer AG to print and distribute the WT? What's the source for this? Can it be confirmed?

Introduction - Any Believers?
by Believer ini’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

I checked out what the WT has said about voting. In the last article on the subject in 1999 it says (in part):
A third factor to consider is that those who have a part in voting a person into office may become responsible for what he does. (Compare 1 Timothy 5:22, The New English Bible.) Christians have to consider carefully whether they want to shoulder that responsibility.
Surely the same principle applies to Christians regarding their endorsement of God and what he has done and will do.
