Did others experience this on the ministry or among JWs generally?
by slimboyfat insometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.

What evidence is there that pursuing a legal route makes any real difference?
There might be a minority of cases where the elders, on the advice of the legal desk, determine discretion is the better of valour and forego the formality of a JC however they always find a way to discredit the individual and shunning as per normal is the order of the day.
If p.e knows there is zero actual evidence then denying it is a valid route but if evidence does come to light then the elders will take a dim view.
If there is evidence then p.e has very little to work with unless the method the evidence came to light by really, really can be legally, even criminally, challenged.
The WT 87 9/1 "A Time To Speak" discusses a hypothetical situation covering medical confidentiality and leaves the door wide open for ones to put tale telling above their legal responsibilities. Don't expect the congregation to dismiss information coming via legally questionable sources. It might (and I stress might) prevent a formal JC being formed but the grapevine will put into action and shunning will ensue.

Two things have been consistent about my experience of working affluent areas:
1 - "these people won't be interested, they already have their paradise"
2 - "I want this house after Armageddon"

Perhaps. Don't forget that right now they are likely years away from losimg their tax free status. There is no significant and fast moving investigation by the CC. Even if the CC did rule against the org then it simply becomes a long and protracted legal battle.
The major driver for a move to Germany is simple economic common sense given the reduction in printing. There are other factors that come into play but nothing like what happened in France for example.

Just for clarity.... I think that the possibility of a CC investigation into the real charitable status and tax affairs of the British branch is a real concern, especially in the context of poor perceptions around the handling of child sex abuse cases. I am just not sure that they will be that bothered by the transfer of funds to another charity in itself as that is within the rules.

Availability Crisis of Conscience.
by Ben131895 inmost of us are desperately waiting for the availability of a legal crisis of conscience.
deborah dykstra provided us with two updates.
on december 12, 2015 there was a clear statement about the copyright which stopped all illegal activity in spreading electronic versions & prints.. finally, she promised a new update by or before may 6.. so far no new update.

As much as CoC was pivotal in my and many others' awaking, I fear that the time this is taking to get this book officially back out there is reducing it's relevance. We now have so many resources and routes to information for those waking up, I wonder how many people would be that bothered by the book, especially if it has any kind of a significant cost to it.
I would hate to see it fade into the background or be some relic of the past but the current slow progress is doing nothing to keep it as a "must read".

I doubt the CC will be that bothered. There is nothing in the CC rules and regulations that prevent a charity in the UK send funds to other charities abroad. They have been doing it for years already with UK donations propping up NY and other branches.
I think this move, if true, will be down to a combination of factors. Key will be the need for Germany to have enough money to support the centralisation of the printing. Also they could be looking to hide funds and reduce the financial footprint of the organisation in the UK. They may also be pre-empting any possible exit from the EU and how that may affect things. Last, but not least, I do think they are running scared about possible CC investigations into the tax affairs of the org in the UK. This is both directly from the CC but also potentially from a royal commission type investigation into child abuse.
The funny thing is that the UK branch has considered itself really special for years and years with obnoxious, self important and puffed up leaders imagining that they were untouchable. The delight at the thought of the rug being pulled from under them is great!

Hi bohm,
I see it as the other way. All the literature is printed in Germany then shipped to the UK for distribution through the country. This means no printing in the UK.

Indeed it would be huge news to anyone outside of the propaganda machine. It seems like they are trying to bring a change in through the back door. We've had news recently about how much work is being done at Chelmsford. Then this comes in through a letter to the BoE with no instruction to read to the congregation. Not only that but the letter does not reference any end of printing or anything like that, it simply talks about the fact that now Britain will do distribution. At some point it will all be obvious but since the change has been done with no fanfare it will be a seamless transition without the possible repercussions of a proper announcement.
Of course, all of this is slightly moot since an easy excuse is the move to more electronic distribution and the sheeples will lap it up anyway. But why make it a talking point at all if you can do it on the sly...
