If you are openly celebrating birthdays and holidays then expect less contact after the RC. It's not a new instruction but a rare reminder that inactive ones persisting in "wrongdoing" should essentially be shunned.

What is the official stance on shunning family that "faded"?
by Wild_Thing indoes anybody have any quotes from watchtower literature or video that shows what their stance is on associating with family who have left the witnesses?
or even what the unofficial stance is?.
not disfellowshipped or officially disassociated, just "inactive" for say 15-20 years, but also openly living a "worldly" life birthdays, holidays, including attending another church?

Dress and grooming
by stuckinarut2 ini know this is an old topic, but it came to mind again.... yes it is appropriate for people to dress neatly and respectfully for a dignified religious gathering, but why does it have to be a full suit with collared shirt and tie?.
why does it have to be a full dress or skirt and jacket?.
sure, we would find it distasteful for a person to arrive in swimwear or work overalls or other inappropriate attire, but why does it have to conform to strict standards?.

Lol! Blasted autocorrect! I guess it figured out the spirit of what I was saying and decided shit was much more appropriate than suit.

The one that always came up here in the UK was "would you wear anything less than a suit to meet the Queen? Why would you not dress to at least the same standard to meet the Universal God, Jehovah?"
Bang to rights really.

Who was the poster who predicted radical Watchtower change years ago?
by slimboyfat inwho was the poster, about 8 years ago, who came on the forum and claimed he had inside information that the gb were planning radical changes.
he said that in ten years time jws would be unrecognisable.
many were skeptical.

Good call SBF. Things have played out slightly differently with the DO role and not the CO role being the one that goes for example, but the overall gist was there and has been followed through.
It's interesting that the org has a history of long term planning yet we've seen some uncharacteristically reactive events such as the JWB begging session.

I have pretty much stopped. I occasionally go to FS group (once a month max) to placate my wife but simply "go on calls" and go and get a coffee.
I put in a report to keep the eldubs off my back.
No one has said a word in a year.

Will the talk where They say treat inactive ones as apostates back fire?
by Crazyguy ina few years ago they had a similar talk and my mother stopped talking to my sister.
after a few weeks the sister called and when mom told her my sister said but i love your my mother.
something to that effect.

Nothing that new here. They are not saying treat inactive ones as apostates. As ttdtt says, they are saying don't associate with baptised ones who you know are doing things that are "wrong". That's an old thing out for a new airing.

The last video in the 2016 convention...
by problemaddict 2 in...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.
bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.

I am with Daniel1555,
The production on this video is designed to provoke as strong an emotional response as possible.
Finding out they have used a commercial piece from a production music company with such a strong track record of epic instrumental compositions is telling in itself.
The sheeples will love this, even here in cynical ol' Britain. The whole RC is a big long story designed to make us all identify with the characters, see our problems in their problems, choose to copy their loyalty, imagine ourselves alongside them in the basement as the police break in and then to weep uncontrollably as we picture ourselves in the paradise earth - young, healthy, looking so calm and refined in our loose fitting cotton meditation wear.
Who the f**k would not want to be there? Who the f**k would want to give up now? Who the f**k would be stupid enough to question anything, fail to shun, associate with apostates or not discard any disquieting thoughts?
For anyone already breaking the mental chains it should be shock to the system. For anyone not there yet then it will be #thebestconventionever #jw

Does the governing body know what they are doing?
by Gefangene inwhat do you guys think?.
are they only some uber religious zealots or do they pursue hidden agendas beyond religiosity?.

I think the video answers the question as to whether or not the GB are competent persons to be in charge of a multi-national corporation.
I don't think it addresses the question of if they know what they are doing concerning the shoring up of a religion that is unsustainable in the long term. In this case I believe they do know what they are doing. They know that the only way of keeping people in is to press all the right emotional triggers around fear, obligation and guilt. They might be spinning it differently in their own heads but they know they cannot keep doing it the old way.
All they have to do is make the majority feel the right way and then cognitive dissonance and the sunk cost fallacy does the rest for them.

Roy and my right to free-speech..
by The Rebel inbefore england announce the two squad members that won't go in to the euros, i say leave out wiltshire ( not fully match fit) and sturrige,( the most over rated striker ever) however social media disagrees and says drinkwater, lacks quality and rashford experience so leave them out.
other experts think varidys pace irrelevant at this level.
my conclusion it's all opinions and roy hodgson wont base his decision on my opinion nor social medias.

Should have taken Townsend and left Wilshere at home. JW is a great player on his day but gets injured everytime he looks at pitch. I think Sturridge will contribute if he does not stub his toe or have some other stupid injury like bumping into JW and taking both of them out.

Sorry to post like a nutter, but are cult smocks appropriate wear for Bethel or the meetings? If it's alright for Paradise surely it's OK for now. Perhaps someone could turn up wearing one...
