Ours was a "sit down and shut up" ball break.
Last week a long standing elder (40+ years) was deleted for saying a few words at the funeral of friend (a UBM who attended the hall reasonably regularly) which subsequently had a pastor say some words. No other witnesses at the funeral were offended but when a another elder overheard a conversation about it he jumped on it and teamed up with his cronies to stab this brother in the back and get him chucked off for "interfaith".
There was no mercy shown, no understanding or reasonableness. Bizarrely the body were told to vote on it yet also told it was a black and white issue. The elder was told if he disagreed with the BoE decision and sought an appeal then he would be supporting interfaith and would face a JC and would be disfellowshipped if not repentant.
So last week this was announced. This week, the elder who kicked this all off gave the local needs and presented the account as a "scenario" then launched into a tirade about anyone disagreeing with the BoE would be guilty of causing divisions.
So the local needs was used to bully everyone to ensure no one complains or murmurs against the callous behaviour of the ringleaders.
Makes you sick.

There are two aspects to it rebel.
Firstly there is a surprising amount of work because the org makes it so with copious paperwork, form filling, procedures etc. Really four or five elders is a minimum for a congregation above 80 or so people assuming those elders are healthy and have a reasonable amount of time. Many elders are older, are ill or have family circumstances that limit what they can do.
Secondly, having "privileges" in the congregation, especially being an elder, is aspirational and an outward sign you are "spiritual". It's a marker to everyone else that you can be trusted and are loyal. A man older than his late 30s who is not a ministerial servant, let alone an elder, is usually considered a little suspect even if everything else they do conforms to the norm.
Being an elder is a control mechanism, both of the flock the elder is in charge of and the individual holding the position.

Approx 110 publishers. We had 11 elders but one was stabbed in the back and forcibly dumped last week after 40+ years on a pure technicality.
Dunno how many minis - must be around 5 or 6.

Is Larry Graham an Elder?
by ShirleyW ini think he is, but i"m not too sure.
just wondering because looking at that purple pimp outfit with hat that he wore to prince's memorial, i wonder if he ever gave a talk wearing the same outfit, when i've read here that some brothers were talked to for wearing a pastel colored shirt while giving a talk..

No problem with LG or anyone walking their own line and glad to see it. It's just a compare and contrast as to how your R&F dub would be treated when they walk their own line. -

So LG can wear purple but wearing black is ALWAYS wrong,
What if there was a request to wear a specific colour to a funeral - you can bet some self-righteous elder would crack down on it.

WT's expert on blood!
by Joyzabel inthe january 8, 2000 awake magazine published an article "the growing demand for bloodless medicine and surgery".
this article has been quoted extensively by jws as support for their "scientific" justification for refusing blood products.. a quote from that article that is familiar to most jws and exjws is this one:.
“all those dealing with blood and caring for surgical patients have to consider bloodless surgery.”—dr.
