Good point Phizzy. You don't become a CO by rocking the boat. -

Philip Rose. Utter weasel. I don't hate many people but he is right up there on my list of Brian Cants.
John Stanbridge. Odd but pretty harmless.
Tony Tavener. Genuine and humble man.
Mike Seidler. Greasy pole artist.
Colin Conradie. Top bloke.
Richard Cullen. Loved by the congregation but hated by the elders for being two faced.
David Carter - Loves the sound of his own voice and wished he had been Tommy Cooper.
David Algar - Entertaining but as my I grew ever more cynical about the whole thing I just found him increasingly pompous.
Peter Morgan - Nice bloke overall.
Dave Rastell - Quite liked him really 'cos he stood up for me when my elders were being plonkers. -

New Marriage Arrangement Rumor?
by Thoughtless inso, i haven't lurked here in a long while however, i have been checking up more frequently and i saw that there is a rumor going around about getting barred from marriage if the brother not appointed by the time he is 23. is that true?
if it is, i am so screwed haha.
proud fader present within college.

There is no rule regarding this. AM intimated that a "wise" sister might want to question the spiritual goals of a brother if he was not appointed as a MS by 23 but that's a way off any kind of ban. Sure there might be a handful that treat it like a rule but it's not going to affect the vast majority. -

A Question for Underground Apostates, How Many Are There?
by Village Idiot inwhen i first came to this forum i was of the belief that those of us who were still in due to family reasons were few in numbers perhaps one in a thousand in the jws.
soon i came to the realization that there were many more.
we have dozens of posters here who are mentally out but still in.

Still living the lie. Mentally out since the second half of 2012 but struggling to make a full break as I cannot convince my wife on TTATT. I do not want to get DF/DA'ed as that would strain the wider family ties too much.
I wish I knew some other closet apostates locally that I could share thoughts with. I've met up with a couple of people from here which has been great.

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

Hi Russ,
Good to hear from you. Not sure where you are in the country but Sussex was (and still is I think) pretty strong on the Portuguese groups. It's possible we share some contacts....

Having doubts is not a DF offence. Publicly talking about those doubts or suggesting alternative views openly can easily lead to being DF'ed.
Elders might seem like they want to understand you but you cannot trust anyone when they are acting in an "official" capacity. They can take your words and twist them very easily if they choose to do so.
So, it's probably OK to say "I just find it very difficult to get my head around things like the way the understanding of generations has changed".
But then to add "So I really find it difficult to trust that F&DS really know what they are talking about" can set the alarm bells going.
The obvious and less confrontational tack from the elders is "but you are sure Jehovah exists, you are sure his Kingdom is coming, aren't you? We just need faith in that and the rest does not matter." If you then start questioning that then again, the alarm bells start ringing.
Asking questions about the difference between "where" and "whom", birthdays, mediation etc. are all fine in principle and might be possible with a trusted friend but could very easily be a one way street to a JC if you confront a CO or arsey elder. Don't forget, they only have to form one and invite you. Who cares if you turn up or not. You're toast.
There is a reason why so many simply say "I'm depressed".

by konceptual99 ina sick little girl goes to ny to meet caleb and sophia for her make a wish trip.. http://www.kmph.com/category/170789/video-landing-page?clipid=11142038&autostart=true.
i don't want to make too much comment as there is an innocent and poorly young girl at the heart of this but i do have to wonder what the purpose of the parents courting the media's attention over this really was..

Hi, new to this forum. Figured I'd let everyone know about my story before I got involved.
by JonathanH inif you just want the juicy details where i leave, i'll make disclaimer where it begins, if you just want to know what happened with the elders and organization after i realized it wasn't true, i'll mark that seperately.
we didn't do jack shit in service, or in the congregation.
maybe this was how jehovah came about?
