Jeez, after reading all those, mine seems pretty pathetic. Working the street you live on out in service when I was about 13 or 14 years old. OMG, I can still see all my friends pointing and laughing at me. This freakin MS made me even do my neighbors house.

'now I'll show you how an Italian dies,'"
by English Patient inhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3628977.stm
the italian hostage killed by kidnappers in iraq was a defiant "hero" in his final moments, italian foreign minister franco frattini says.
the dead man was identified as fabrizio quattrocchi, 36, a security guard.

As the gunman's pistol was pointing at him the hostage "tried to take off his hood and shouted: 'now I'll show you how an Italian dies,'" he said.
Kinda explains how the Italians were able to rule the known world for several hundred years. Dam that dude had some balls. As racist as it may sound, are there any Arab men with courage and honor? I'm beginning to wonder. All I see are men willing to crash planes into buildings, strap bombs onto kids and slaughter their own people if they happen to disagree with them. And some people think we can come to some type of agreement with these people?

Don't listen to the media UNLESS they are sympathetic to the Witness'.

There is no way in hell that any congressman is going to vote for a draft. Besides, the new army isn't like the old army. They don't want just any Tom, Dick or Harry. With the high-tech war, they need highly skilled people and a draft isn't going to help much. It's one thing if someone wants to volunteer for the army and a war, it's something totally differnt to draft them. With the exception of an invasion of the US (ala China) there is no way a draft will fly.

Do you use this site as a Pissing Post?
by scumrat inlets face it, there are many posts and replies about nonsensical bullshit that has nothing to do with the jw's.
what purpose does it serve?
do you do it to irritate other board members or just to get a reaction?

More fun and interesting to discuss issues with people who have a differnt opinion. Even those who are sincere (sincerely wrong) about what's going on in the world deserve to be educated.

Well believe it or not Roybatty, this isn't about Bush, though it is to a large extent about his performance and capabilities. So if he could cure cancer, I'd be applauding him. You may think of every goddamn thing having to do with politics in the last 12 years thru Bush vs. Clinton lenses, but I don't. As a Texan, my more natural inclination was to be pro-Bush, and as a witness, my more natural inclination was to have contempt for Clinton. And so it was.
No, I really don't think every goddamn thing is is either Bush vs. Clinton. I guess I'm just tired of the extremes. I'm tired of the Rush Limbaums of the world, I'm tired of the Ted Kennedys of the world. I'm tired that (no offense Simon) a large portion of the world has one set of rules and standards when it comes to people like Bush (conservative Americans) and another standard for their own country (i.e. British troops in N. Ireland, France's failure to stop the slaughter in Rwanda).
In this world there's right and there's wrong. In the long run, Iraq will become a democracy and the people of that country will be thankful that a handful of world leaders did the right thing.

Hey Xena,
Yeah, my feelings exactly. I gave up "arguing" with them a long time ago. Anything anti-Bush is all that they're interested in. Bush could discover the cure to cancer and they'd say "oh, think about all the doctors and nurses who will loose their job." Ug!

Daddy, why did we have to attack Iraq?
by Larry indaddy, why did we have to attack iraq?.
questions and answers about foreign policy (and the u.s. invasion of iraq).
anyway, saddam hussein came to power through a military coup, so he's not really a legitimate leader anyway.

So, are you complaining that, as a small business owner, you do not get comparable tax breaks that the big guys do? Are you complaining that these huge companies, but outsourcing jobs, can pay much lower wages and are not subject to the more strict employment laws of the US?
Beyond that, where does "social responsiblity" end and a free market begin? How would you suggest we deal with the apparent inequities?
1. Stop the transfer of technology and know how to China. For example, the Chinese government demands that any foreign company that owns more then 10% of a Chinese company share with it all it's r&d information, production and sales know how, Know why? Because the Chinese want to manufacture it themselves. If you have time, check into one example of how GE got totally screwed on its attempt to sell the Chinese airplane engines.
2. Realize that Wal-Mart is bad for the economy and nation. Yeah, you and I save 50 cents on toothpaste or a buck on a mixer but what is the effect of people loosing good paying jobs and are then forced to work at Wal-Mart, a company who doesn't pay for it's workers healthcare. When they need medical attention, you and I end up paying the bill. Guess which company 5 of the top 10 wealthiest people in American own a piece of??
I'm not saying that the government set up trade blocks against China or move against Wal-Mart. Instead they need to enforce existing laws. Wal-Mart is allowed to use undocumented workers, they have violated child labor laws, etc but are allowed to get away with it. China is also allowed to break WTO laws.

My father volunteered for WWll, he felt it was a necessary war. When Vietnam came along though, he felt it was a political war badly run. He was against that war and believed the young men who fled to Canada were doing the right thing. He served in WWll honorably but he said that when politicians send us to war it is not always a war in our best interests. He also said politicians to quote him, "don't know ****about war." He did not trust politicians.
Take a look at the percent of men who volunteered to fight during WWII verse the percent who were drafted. Now compare those same numbers to Vietnam. You'll be surprised.
