I agree with your points ozzie and would also like to give a big thanks to Randy, Kent and Simon (and others) who put in countless hours for our benefit.
Again, I'd love to see the look on the face of the boys in Crooklyn when they find out about the recordings of the elders school. They'll scramble to do something to stop this from happening again, but what can they do? Nothing.

A note of appreciation
by ozziepost induring the past week we have been 'treated' to a couple of outstanding posts/services, namely the audio files of the complete kms which kent provided, and the series of letters (jensen) about questions on blood provided by randy.. randy said at the time that the reading the letters would "blow your mind".
but taping the whole kms program was also something to "blow your mind", wasn't it?.
yes, both 'events' have shown very clearly that the borg is no longer able to manage the flow of information.

Mmm...college
by mikepence inthanks to the supportive words and encouragement of many here, i am now officially a student at arizona state university.. i just went to campus, and got a hard copy of the general catalog at the book store, and i went to the computer lab to setup my access.
just seeing the young and old, people of all sorts of ethnic backgrounds, milling around campus, all engaged in the wonder of learning, made me take pause and think about how silly the jw prohibition on college is, and how completely a learning environment can shatter the witness world view.
part of me wanted to cry, and another part of me was intrigued by the hot young college chicks...heh.. it is wonderful to be able to make choices for oneself.. any recommendations for my first course?

The outline for last weeks Blood Card talk
by Kent inoutline for service meeting: benefiting from kind provisions .
take a look at: http://watchtower.observer.org/apps/pbcs.dll/artikkel?nocache=1&dato=20020124&kategori=news&lopenr=201240001&ref=ar.
this is the latest "new light", and this subject has been discussed all over the board, i've heard.. instead of claiming all and everything, i feel it's much better to produce evidence to what the rules really are - and then the jw apologists can simply shut up and accept facts.. i will be interested in comments.. yachyd da.

Blood cards - before screaming too loudly,
by TheOldHippie inkeep in mind that the blood cards are produced and circulated in all other countries worldwide.
if they are not so in the us, please do not scream too loudly that major changes are occuring etc., because this has got to be some local us thing, if it is true what you say that they are not renewed in the us.

Ny,
You cannot compare the pioneer cards to the no-blood cards. The no-blood cards are a legal document, thus the need to have witnesses sign it.
I'm not certain if this is a big deal or not, but one thing is for certain. In the past, re-newing your blood card EVERY YEAR was a BIG deal. Why the sudden change? I believe that the Society's lawyers want to distance themselves from the blood issue. By not providing no-blood cards, they can thus claim "we didn't force people to accept this belief." There is ALWAYS a reason for whatever the Society does. -

While its hard to be "happy" about such a tragic event, its good to see that the Society is being called to task for what they have allowed.

Even when I left the JW and later attended a local church I still bought into the WT's "myth" that churchs don't study the Bible. This was because during the Sunday church service, reading from the Bible didn't occur as often as at the KH. However, what I didn't realize was that most churchs have a differnt approach then the WT's. During the week the churchs around here have their evening Bible study for adults and Sunday school for the kids.
Talk about a much more lively discussion! The way that JWs study the Bible is a disservice to the word "study." Reading a paragraph, answering predetermined questions and looking up ONLY the scriptures cited within the paragraph is indoctrination, not studying. -

Makes me shake my head when I think about how my sister and her husband, two Bethelites, get to go to Patterson and use it as a vacation get-away. It's no wonder that everyone at Bethel wants to transfer there.
