Disfellowshipping decision to go before Canadian Supreme Court
by Simon inhigh court will examine whether judicial review applies to membership decisions made by religious groups.
the supreme court of canada has agreed to hear an appeal involving a calgary man who was kicked out of his jehovah's witness church.. randy wall, a real estate agent was "disfellowshipped" from the highwood congregation for being drunk on two occasions and allegedly verbally abusing his wife.. as a result, he says his clients refused to do further business with him, so he argued his property and civil rights were affected.. after losing three internal church appeals of his expulsion, wall made an application with the court of queen's bench in calgary which ordered a hearing to first determine if there was jurisdiction for the court to hear the application.. decisions and appeals.
a judge decided the superior court did have jurisdiction to hear the application.. the church then appealed wall's decision to the alberta court of appeal, which upheld the court of queen's bench, affirming the court has jurisdiction to hear the matter.. one of the three appeal court judges dissented — arguing that congregations are private organizations akin to bridge clubs, whose decisions "are not enforceable promises and have limited, if any, impact outside its small circle.".

I for one am glad Watchtower is fighting this all the way. A ruling in Watchtower's favor could open the way for situation reversal, in that members of Christendom could actively prohibit themselves doing business with Jehovah's Witnesses as the religion, and its members, disassociated itself from Christendom knowing full well the Bible requires the practice of personal and business shunning.
Jayden MacEwan, the lawyer for the Highwood congregation, believes the courts have no place in this case. He stated in the interview "can the court decide who you should be forced or compelled to worship God with? Or is that not more just a purely personal decision?"
Is Watchtower claiming that an individual who does business with, or enters into commercial contracts with, another party is engaging in worship to God? Is Watchtower arguing that freedom of religion and freedom of worship applies equally to commercial contracts or business?

by Bungi Bill ineverybody here right now is busy "battening down the hatches" as they wait for the approach of a tropical cyclone.
a state of emergency has been declared in the district - the second one in as many weeks.
(the floodwaters from the tropical cyclone that hit just last week have still not drained away).. so far, the biggest hazard looks like it will be the storm surges from the ocean, and people living in some exposed coastal areas have already been evacuated.

Russian Ban exposed but not THE ARC...WHY?
by tor1500 injust your thoughts....i've been all over this site, everyone says, that if jehovah was backing the org.
then why so many things happen in the org.
child abuse, shunning, and so on....but my question or thought is why is the banning of witnesses all over the media, but the arc isn't wasn't picked up in the media, like this (oh little leaks here and there, but nothing major) nothing like the nyt or any major media venue where the friends would see it and couldn't deny it, even if they wanted to....why does the media care more about banning witnesses than child abuse...i know even if the arc was exposed many of the friends would stay, but would be shamed, because they talked about other religions...or maybe jehovah is bringing the org.

Go bags?
by punkofnice ini heard recently that there was a talk given at the kh about having a 'go bag' ready because the big 'a' must be soooo close as evidenced by syria and the russian jobo thing.. does anyone know if this 'go bag' thing is substantiated in publications or just a local nut job being paranoid and attention seeking?.
i also wonder about this 'go bag' thing, apparently, you need to make sure your biscuits (that's cookies to my over the pond friends), are not out of date.
don't carry water, it's too heavy.. too many questions do i have.

the only thing that per's home address has in common with the russian president’s is the number 23, while also noting that the town of trelleborg is roughly 1,532 kilometers (951 miles) from moscow.. .
when asked if he was curious about what's in the letter per replied "yes, of course i am.

The timing and circumstances are right for a misplaced JW campaign letter which was part of the governing body's worldwide letter writing to Putin launched on March 20. The post mark on the letter is "2017-03-26" ie March 26. Keep in mind that on March 23 a 'new light' revised instruction sheet was published because the governing body got the address of Putin wrong. They had the country on the address line above the postal code (same as the above letter) instead of below.
Interestingly the letter was sent to the village of Trelleborg.
I wonder what JWs would be saying if it was sent to the village of Trellejah?

During the Australian Child Abuse Royal Commission, Jehovah's Witness child abuse survivor, BCG, testified that as a child she would "pray to Jehovah" for protection from being raped. Jehovah did not protect her.
BCG also testified that as a child she would "pray to Jehovah" to put angels around her to protect her from being raped. Jehovah did not protect her.
BCG also testified that as a child she went to the elders for help and protection from the Jehovah's Witness rapist. After all the elders represent Jehovah and are appointed by holy spirit. Neither the elders nor Jehovah protected her.
The lesson is not lost on the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses. That is why they never pray and leave it in Jehovah's hands. Nothing happens if they do. Instead they always resort to the United Nations, the courts, or the authorities for protection. They don't practice what they preach. The irony is the governing body claim they report such matters to the authorities and courts so that people, like BCG, can see and benefit from Jehovah's protection in action.
