so, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.
how about criminal fraud if they come across it.
assault on a congregant?.
In the UK the only crime the elders are encouraged to report to the authorities, in fact it is written in their procedures, is criminal vandalism committed against a kingdom hall building.

my family members are doubling down on their fervor about meeting attendance.
they are having an effect on some of my wishy washy long time inactive family.
I want to share with you a heart warming story about the JW Bunker video and the paradise video. In my area the RC has not yet arrived. One discerning member of the "conscious class" has gone above and beyond in trying to help his family out of the JWs. First he took the video and edited out all references to the JWs. He then book ended the two videos with very brief 2 second clips from the LDS (Later Day Saints). Then he showed to his JW family and encouraged open discussion.
According to this person his family denounced the LDS as fear-mongerers, paranoid, delusional, doomsdayers, cultists, preppers and the best of all ... "you can really see they are from their father the Devil by the propaganda portrayed in the videos."
Over the past month he has regularly chatted to his family about the videos. He has also kept a video diary and, most amazingly, recorded his family making and recording their own video commentary on the absurdity of the videos. Part of this includes the family members stating that the JWs would never "stoop this low."
I've tried and tried to get a copy of the videos but it is for him and his family only. He did tell me that he is going to record their reaction when their RC comes around.
Even if he does not get his family out I believe he will make a point. Following the RC he will resign (disassociate) himself from the JWs. He plans to write a letter and use his entire family's negative comments as his own. I am interested to see if they shun him for their own comments, including the one from his father who said "if I was in a religion that put out a disgraceful video like that I would resign immediately."
Extreme? Yes. But I got 6 members of my family out by encouraging them to report the wrongdoing of a Branch Committee member to the JWs and the governing body. I stood back and sadly watched the Watchtower lawyers go after my family to destroy them. It took a while but my family eventually realized that god is not with these people.

jws have one of the worst, if not the worst, retention rates among their kids.
i've seen numbers from 65% to 88% who leave, never to return.. you'd think this would be a priority amongst the leadership, right?
where do tomorrow's leaders come from, if the vast majority of kids leave the organization?
What do JW children really think of the JW religion? A few years back I was having dinner with a JW family who were in the process of exiting the religion. After dinner the parents told their children that they were no longer going to the meetings. 7 year-old daughter expresses her feelings:
"Good. I hate going to the meetings. Does this mean I can join the [local] netball team?"
Child is now a very, very, very talented and aggresive netball player. She tears the court up.

so i hooked into meeting via phone this week to listen in and was shocked at the absurdities mentioned in the study article (2016 may watchtower: "go,..and make disciples of people of all the nations").
the answer is obvious—only jehovah’s witnesses.
the answer the missionary priest gave in no way proves that jws are the only ones "preaching the good news".
Without the preaching and teaching activities of Christendom over the centuries there would be no Bible and no manuscripts with which the JWs used to base their version of Christianity on. No Christendom = No Bible.
shouldn't they say thanks for" holding down the fort" until we take over?.
The United Nations actually responds when the Jehovah's Witnesses cry out for help and protection from religious persecution. This of course only occurs after the JWs have prayed to Jehovah, through Jesus, for help and received no reply.
