did anybody else read this article and just think wth?.

sometimes god approves of war.. sometimes god doesn't approve of war.. when the israelites fought battles and won it was because god blessed them.. when they lost it was because god had not blessed them.. sometimes god fights for oppressed ones.. sometimes they must wait and have faith.. it is so clear that the bible contradicts itself on this issue and that the nation of israel had a totally different view of god than the early christians.

it is also clear that the nation of israel was highly superstitious and would attribute every battle's outcome to the whims of a higher power.

Did you give them your blessing for being obidient warriors? And Why should you have killed residents of Canaan at all. For believing in Father EL or Lord BAAL, the first god of the mountains and stars and the other of the Thunder and the weather? How would combatting against any mountains and weather Gods not be stupid? I mean was it worth the war at all, because Thunder and Lighning exists even today, like I exist, I Thor, I am a witness?"

Thor Odinson entered the sanctuary with caution preparing his mind to meet the Eternal Bearer of the Undistinguisable Tetragram. Thor vs. Jehovah. A real and necessary battle? I thought it was an ever unfullfilled hope but now when I see it standing here ... wow... a really impressive symbol but I wanna speak with you about ....

Thor "You are the "E T E R N A L" ...perhaps? Shouldnt you remain meaningful, at least more than for the usage of mythical bible comics for children?

YHWH "Dont you know that you are standing on a holy ground, that I am only tolerating you in my possession, in my beautiful garden and temple while you are besmirtching my name and my house with your PowerSword, hammer and dirty thoughts? It would be better if you stopped argumenting, because I dont argument, my witnesses dont argument too, they only preach."

Thor "What would you propose"?

YHWH "We could stop talking and begin meditating togehter, i heard that is a popular eastern method of relaxation, but hunted by the catolic witchhunters because it centeres about inner personality, therefore it sounds exiting for me. I like to speak silently with my inner personality that widens my horizon.'"

If you still believe, do you go to church?

while i'm still finding my journey and figuring out what exactly i believe in, i'm curious to know if others on this board who do still believe in a god attend other churches and what drew you to them.

sorry if this topic has been brought up before, i tried to do a search, but didn't find what i was looking for.. having been born and raised in jwland, how easily do you give up those doctrines that have been so thoroughly engrained?

even sort of celebrating (more like acknowledging, no party) my son's birthday seemed so strange to me because i've never done that, but it felt good to see him smile about it.

I wish you much luck on your journey. On your yourney you will have to trust to your instinct. What is really important for youself.

If you like communities, You can be openmindend and you should try out different forms of community. Not only the religious groups. Depending on your interests you could e.g. attend meetings of caritative organisations, what would bring satisfaction and recognition.

If you are very engaged in theology and leading of a community you could try a protestant group where women even can be pastors ;-) The same if you like reading the bible and praying together. Many of these groups are very tolerant and have great group activities with caritative character. It may depend on the pastor in the community.

Concerning the sacramental wine.

I asked the same question many times when I watched the priest cleaning drinking wine and then cleaning the cup in the mass.

I found out that in former time in the churches everybody could drink his wine, everbody who wanted got it.

The church had large vineyards in the past. The wine for the ceremony had to be a special clean wine, a special breeding. But then it became to complicated to serve wine for everyone, the catolic form of communion was not an annual but daily wine-drinking. Finally they did not want to spill some wine during the holy ceremony (a handling, technical matter thus), what then lately resulted in quiting the wine emission during the mass at all.

The wine is now only drunken by the priest during ceremony, but if you want to drink wine you can go to the priest and you will receive it even today without any problem for a special occasion. Generally in liturgy the sacrament of host (bread) represents the wine as well.

Anyway the priests are not acting like a special class comparable to the "anointed one" at JW,
when they dring the wine, as you can drink wine if you asked the priest too.

This is a disinguisssshed citation of the tower's article about "apostasy".
The tower looks like a chess piece btw. As usual the Tower uses the bible text book as text module for a teaching.

Okay we know that in all christian churches exist "church laws" like in the RC and protestant. This church laws know excommunciation and other disciplinary measures too. Does this mean that disciplinary measures for apostasy are a common accepted pratices in all christian denominations?

If yes, on which basis are they installed?

Is this church discipline by e.g. excommunation, banning for apostate teachers like women that are celebrating messes against the church law in catolic church not the same blossom of legalistics as JW have except that the shunning is more intensive?

I only want to remind you how apostates were treated in middle age by the church in the so called "INQUISTION". The methods of inquisition in finding out the thoughts of your mind and your clear consience are similar to the JUDICIAL COMMITTEE AGENDA.

Why Do You No Longer Believe in God?

i know this question has popped up from time to time but i really would like to know how you guys, those that no longer believe, came to that conclusion?

was it the wts and all its crap?

was it something you read?

Once I had the opinion that it would be "better decision to belief" than "not to believe".

Granted that God existed, I would benefit from all blessings
(like surviving gods jugdment at the day of Armageddon)
if not I had not suffered a loss.

I think that many are following this logic. But considering that in many religious groups the individual choice is methodically limited by institutional rules, which manipulated persons freedom and reverse it in loyalty to an organisation, resulting in irrational and harmful personal patterns of behaviour, I now think that the loss of believing in a cult is bigger than the blessings.

Ideas (like God exists) would be misinterpreted and falsely adapted if treated like physical fact. A constitutive use of an idea is false. Ideas are only valid relatively. If you treat an idea as fact than you get into contradictions. The basis of knowledge has to be considered.

Kant wrote about matters of reason and matters of idea. In the first case
I use terms with the aim to define a subject.

Peshitta, Aramaic New Testament

My opinion:

The translation of the YHWH(hebrew) into MarYah (syrian-aramaic) vs. kyrios (greek). Of course the syriac translation adds to Lord (Mar) the Yah (for the YHWY). The Maryah was used for God and for Jesus in some cases, what seems to give both the same honour.

But writing Maryah has nothing to do with the pronounciation of the Tetragram. The peshitta.ORG constantly use the term for Maryah=Lord Jehovah, thus pronouncing the name, what is incorrect. They use perhaps, i am not sure yet, the word Maryah as argugment that the divine name has its place int the NT 239 times.

The word MarYah instead of YHWH was a replacement for YHWH like in greek the kyrios. The Yah is also present today in Halleluja, but this doesnt mean that we knew the correct pronounciation of gods name.

Give me some time and I will find for you the pdf with all so called "better" understandable passages in the NT, by reading with the aramaic co called "original". I read it once.
