I must admit, I never saw any of this coming, but it couldn't have come sooner.
I'm free of all the fake friendships. I can do as I please with out having to worry who sees.
That's a relief right there

in recent years significant progress has been made in solving the question of how life originated on our planet.. how do you think theists will respond when it finally happens?
as a former christian i know my reaction would have been something like "well that just goes to show that it takes intelligent life to make life", but for two reasons that defense doesn't work.. firstly it would prove that life is not an ethereal force that originates with god.
there is no 'ghost in the machine', no elan vital.
That is a false equivalence. Believers are hopeful it will never happen despite the evidence to the contrary. I believe it will because of the evidence. Until it does we can converse about the current state of the research and it's possible implications - if that's alright with Sanchy?
Bicker away my friend. I give you permission

Basically he, like many other theists are hoping it will never happen.
.. and here lies the real motive of threads like these. To bicker with and poke at those who don't see things the way you do. They might be hoping for it to not happen, but you as well are wishing for the opposite, so what's the point? It hasn't happened yet, and until it does, they have as much right to doubt it as you do to wish it.

Is it because you are not aware of recent developments in origin-of-life science?
No. It's because the rest of your argument is based on a hypothetical where you project your biases and disdain for the opposing view. There's no real substance added with this post other than it just being a starting point for the ever going origin of life debate, which I know you love being a part of, but, usually your posts are substantive.
Another thread outlining the latest developments in bio-genesis research would have been much more instructive and constructive.

Cofty, I usually find your posts very instructive and I must say they've been partly instrumental in my being motivated to learn and accept what science has to say about creation and specifically evolution. But honestly, this post adds no benefit to the discussion and comes off as a prideful grasping at straws, with much projecting and worthless argumentation.
I think you should stick to the facts, they are on your side my friend.
i sat in town recently, right in the window of a nice wee pub.
within minutes i realised that i had a perfect view of a jw cart and the two ridiculously dressed jw's (they have absolutely no individuality at all.
what's more, they all look like they're going to a funeral).
They need the hours of those guys to keep up the averages, and they've lowered even the required hours! They can keep their titles, and believe me, those titles mean a lot to them, sadly, and not have to break a sweat.
^^^Total truth. In our congregation specifically, pioneers were always complaining that there was simply not enough door to door territory for them to preach the required amount of hours. So they'd visit the same doors pretty much every few days. Now, with this cart witnessing, they can just sit in some corner in the shade, taking selfies and counting time. Very inefficient way of producing converts, but I'd say that's a great thing :).
is the jesus of religion conservative, and the jesus of the new testament liberal?.

....and a Capricorn
and obviously not a politician :-)

How anyone can read the Gospels and then dream he would support the GOP, escapes me.
Who said conservatism is defined by the GOP? Are all liberal values defined by Democrats? In its pure form, each form would probably lead to catastrophe, balance is key. Not all conservatives are bigots, racists, evangelicals, pro-rich, anti-poor as the media paints them, just as not all liberals are abortionhaving, socialist, anti-white, and/or race baiters.
There are intelligent and essential points in both sides, policy needed in different situations and at different times in history. Sometimes we need a bit more of the "right, sometimes a bit more of the "left".

A 2013 survey by the Barna group found that 86% of Christians in the USA have attitudes and/or actions that are more like the Pharisees (conservative) than like Jesus (liberal).
..and here we see your real motives. If your point was to criticize American conservatism and religious involvement as well as the American culture/economic system, just come out and do so.
I don't know where you live, but if its the case that you live here, and you dislike it so much, then perhaps you should either involve yourself in politics and try to effect change, or leave it and move to Norway.
America has become a great power doing what America does, and America likes it. Looking back in history and no matter how much you extreme leftists try to deny it, America, although imperfect, has been very good at raising the standards of living, spreading democracy, and increasing innovation wildly.
I am now officially non-religious, yet I can admit conservatism has ideas that do make sense, as does the left. I wish we would all stop having to fall under the classification of one group or the other, always dividing each other up.
the missing song 151 now titled "the revealing of god's sons" shows up with the september edition of tv.jw.
no words or score on the jw page yet.
can't say that it sounds any different than any of the other songs they produce now.
And then with Christ, these sons of God
Will wage the final war.
The joyous marriage to the Lamb
Will last forevermore.
Wasn't
it the case that the WT used to say that the 144k would not really be
the ones doing the killing during Armageddon, but rather Jesus and his
angels, as I believe the book of Revelation shows? Is this some kind of
"new light" in that the 144k do indeed take part in the war?
