current JW's, asking a question...

I am so glad with all the responses...I didn't think I was going to get any.
For all the current JWs, it is nice to see you here. Everyone has a curiousity and I am happy that there are those that are brave enough to explore that curiousity. It shows you are a strong person and not a drone like some *cough*the society*cough* want you to be. Even if the religion is right for you, you will be a stronger person for questioning your beliefs and putting your religion to the test.

Do Ex-JW men really understand women?
by Mindchild inhey guys, .
in light of our past shared watchtower delusions, especially relating to understanding women, i thought it would be interesting to see how well everyone scores compared to your real world counterparts in understanding women.. you can take the sexual aptitude test here: http://www.menshealth.com/cda/quizleadin/1,6927,s1-2-0-0-427,00.html.
no cheating now!

Hmm thats very interesting...I think that JW men do not understand or respect women. As far as EX JW men goes...I think that they probably have seen the hypocracy and cruelty in the JW's treatment of women and are somewhat egalitarian...and that is a start. As far as understanding women...that comes with time.

"Serving" as a woman
by Dawn inthis would somewhat apply to anyone who "served" in areas as a 'dub but especially to women.
there were always those areas that women simply were not allowed to serve.
and even the most menial tasks such as serving lunch on a quick build or cleaning toilets at the kh required "good standing" and an approval by the elders .

I'm at a loss...dazzzed and confused...
by Red Witch inwhy is it when so many of you have left the "oh so illusrious" organization, want to have possesion of their publications?
unless, as far as i can figure, you are still somewhat enthralled, dazzed and confused with what they have to say.
when i left, so did all their propaganda.

jwbot--I feel and think one's need to affect others with one's personal revelations is a left-over from being a 'preaching jehovah's witness'. This is not an attack on you personally, just a result of my observations, experiences and general gut feelings about people in general.
hehe ok the highlight is on...whatever.
Honestly RedWitch...I hated preaching...I am just an opinionated person. Preaching had never become ingrained in me, I did not care what worldly people felt, I was embarrassed to talk to them. I never counseled a friend or any of that crap. I can promise you, me only intention is that I feel that I do not like their personal attacks on my lifestyle. They feel I am a bad person for things I do, and for who I am. My only concern is to get my parents and family to love me again and to not be dissapointed...and to not feel I am a bad person. I could care less about their beleifs about God, or even the religion...just as long as they would see that shunning is wrong and I am still their daughter.
I beg you to please not make generalizations about me in the future. Tonight, your general gut feeling is wrong, no offence. Thanks.

I want to gather all the information and evidence-from their own puplications to prove them wrong, maybe to my family or friends, anyone that will listen.
It also serves of a justification of why I am gone...I have only been out a short time...perhaps in time I will not need to look at their literature and say "see? This is why this religion sucks".

I came to realize that an organization that has such interest in supressing information and silencing dissent can't really be trusted to tell the truth about its self. I would have to go elsewhere to get a more complete picture of what this organization was really all about. So, I ended up here.
I know exactly how you feel, that is why I came here. Of course, there are other reasons why I can not be in the religion, one being their treatment of women. But I didn't exactly need answers, I needed to know I wasn't alone.
Thanks to everyone for responding!

Are there any current Jehovahs Witnesses here?
What are your reasons for being here? To find like minded people? To argue with those that oppose? To seek answers to questions? To share your doubts?
I am just very curious. Thanks!
