  Of course, it's much, much better for JW youth to avoid violent video games and concentrate on the WTS literature which shows billions of people being systematically slaughtered, ad infinitum.

  Better to avoid games with virtual violence and go out and preach to people about horrible plagues and destruction that they believe are literal, and will happen "any day now" and think of this as "Jehovah's loving provision for mankind".

  Kind of reminds me of the response of one of the JWs on a now defunct DB who said with regard to the loss of life on 9/11...."If they think this is bad, just wait until Armageddon REALLY gets going....then they'll see some REAL death and destruction."

  Much more wholesome....yeah, right.

  i was raised in the truth since the age of 6 and at the age of 16 i was close to getting baptisted by then i recieved a chance to play college footbal so i fail off, but over the past year i've been striving to finally get dipped and i am at the point in my life were i've been there and seen it all, now i want my future wife to be a dedicated , baptisted servant of jehovah.

  so the search is on.

  how many of you watched donahue wed. night?

  his program revolved around separation of church and state.

  there were discussions on the ten commandment issue in alabama, prayer at graduation exercises, the use of the word god in the pledge, etc.

  Didn't see it, but it still amazes me how JWs will use every means to further their cause and defend their "freedoms" while denying those freedoms to their own members and preaching the destruction of those to whom they appeal for those freedoms.

  given a roasting for our daughters behaviour!

  i'm not sure if i'm posting in the correct section but i had to put this somewhere just to let off some steam.. i have a beautiful little girl, she's just two and a half but she's tall, so she looks more like a four year old.

  we live in a flat and have no access to a garden, the lady who lives underneath us is a nightworker, so we have to try and keep the noise down through the day.

  which means that my poor daughter doesn't get the chance to run off steam.

  Fortunately for my daughter, I was basically inactive when she was small. We did go to the Memorial on a regular basis, however, and as many meetings as I could manage to haul myself to.

  I would bring small things for my daughter to play with (she was only 2 or 3 at the time), and she would be fairly quiet, although wiggly, and would frequently drop small toys on the carpet that I would pick up for her.

  One of the sisters suggested that her wiggling indicated that she was hyperactive and that I should put her on medication to "calm her down". She did that with her sons, and that enabled them to sit quietly like little adults.....sure....just drug your children for Jehovah....I'm sure that that's pleasing to Him.

  At one meeting, my daughter did something that embarrassed me at the time, but on thinking back on it, I found it absolutely hilarious. I would constantly be telling her to "shush, and be quiet" when she would start whispering or talking during the meeting. One time, there were two teenagers sitting behind us who were whispering quite loudly. Before I could stop her, my daughter stood up on the seat, turned around, and quite loudly said, "SHHHH!! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK DURING THE MEETING!!".

  I had a friend at work who took and passed the Mensa test. She persuaded me to take the test because she wanted to have someone she knew attend Mensa functions with her. I caved...I took the test....I passed....we went to a function together....we were bored.

  in my moms old hall there was this little black sister who was about to graduate from HS and was about to enter college as a "Foot doctor" i can't spell the proper name sorry, anyway her family was assigned the part and by the end of 3 weeks she had changed her mind about college and her folks and the friends were so proud of her,

  Now, let's be reasonable. What use would there be for a podiatrist in the New System? After all, everyone.... Wait a minute.....don't all those illustrations in the Watchtower show women walking around in Paradise with those shoes with low heels? Not flats or sneakers or boots, but little dress pumps. Hmmm.....wearing shoes like that when you're tramping around trying to avoid rotting corpses and skipping through fields with holes and rocks is just asking for foot trouble!

  Perhaps she should take this into consideration and re-consider her decision about college.

  im still a jw, a non-believing one if you will.

  i more or less grew up as a jw, my father was an alcoholic and my mother became a jw when i was a kid.

  Need help for someone hurting by JW rules.

  i know i have not properly introduced myself here yet.

  i have been doing the fade from jw religion for about one year but may soon be d/a myself just before i speek out again the elders about what they are doing to someone close to me.

  I am not aware of any such "rule" per se, but, as we know, elders are little demi-gods unto themselves, and they can make up the rules as they go along.

  She needs to think this situation through carefully. Are her children totally tied to the WT organization, or are they well aware of the situation and supportive of her? Would she feel totally debased by the situation if she were to comply, or does she feel that she could go through the motions in order to keep ties with those who are important to her while letting the "groveling" slide off her with little effect?

  She needs to do what is right for HER, according to her own circumstances.
