Once upon a time I thought it was quite demonic, I eventually ended up making a living at it for a time.
Jung did some research in the field.
Does anyone else have experience with the cards?

most religions teach that we were born bad.
john lock believed we were born as a blank slate, neither good or bad.
later, psychologists studied humans, other primates, and other mammals.
Hey larc1
Yeah I have read some of John Locke in philosophy class and didn''t Jefferson use his philosophy to an extent in the draft of the ORIGINAL constitution?
Another perspective that is of interest is Abraham Maslow, I read about him in psychology. He originated the philosophy of Humanistic psychology (officially anyway)
tho I agree with points in all of the psychological viewpoints and all of none if I had to pick one to go with it would be his.
"Human nature is seen as innately good, and people are assumed to have a natuarel tendency toward growth and the realization of their fullest potential. Ther humanists largely deny a dark or evil side of human nature. They do not believe that we are shaped strictly by the environment or ruled by mysterious unconscious (I add spiritual) forces. Rather, as creative beings with an active, conscious free will, we can chart our own course in life". The World of Psychology. Ellen R. Greenwood, Samuel E. Wood. 4th ed. Allyn and Bacon 1993

sometimes when i think back about when i was a dub, i get a little embarrassed.
i remember telling my kids not to draw on watchtower mags (i also had to tell their mother) i was a grown man and would let nerd elders counsel me for dumb things, like saying the word luck, or bulletin board.
i remember getting to the end of the month and not having the cong average field service time and start to worry what the other elders and co would say.
Solution:
Obviously the world is too contaminated for witnesses to associate in it at all, like for instance the bulletin board thing. Think about it . . . every word must have some vile origin or previous connotation.
I think they need to make up their own language.
Ever see that South Park where they went to the alien planet and everyone there was blissfully uncompetetive and one?
Every noun in their language was one word, frack or something . . . so they couldn't segregate or make any differentiation.
Every city was frack, every person, plant, and animal . . . all frack.
Yeah, I think considering their philosophy, that is the only logical solution for the witnesses.
Only the word would not be frack.
What would it be I wonder?
pondering,

i have read many opinions about jw's being a cult.a dictionary describes cult as a system of religious beliefs and ritual .. some have viewed even major religions as a cult, such as the roman catholic church.based upon webster almost anybody or anything that is viewed as ritualistic could be said to be cultic.when someone tries to negate jehovah's witnesses by using.
the "cult" word, i believe they are not seeing that many others could legitimately be regarded as a cult or at least "cultic".therefore the word loses alot of meaning.
some have said that the watchtower is a cult because of the control factor.
Yeah Minimus, I wholeheartedly agree. It's very annoying to me when in discussion I'll say I was a witness (or just bring the witnesses up) and express my opinion about how destructive they are and someone says (basically) "Well, yeah, they're a CULT!" dismissively because someone, somewhere, whom they considered, or assumed to be an expert categorized them that way.
Whether or NOT they all qualify as cults is irrelevant to me.
The fact that they all suck sh$% is enough to keep me clear of them!!
Oh and I always make sure I let whoever I'm talking to know WHY they all suck, then they will almost inevitably agree because it's a pretty obvious and undeniable argument, but then they'll try to let me know they don't deny JESUS divinity.
Oh they want me to know and expect me to agree and say YEA.
I usually just say "Yeah and if you were raised in China you''d be saying the same about Buddha!"
WHATEVER!

most or all people are good.
actually, humans are basically evil.
the bible says that man be inclined toward what is bad from his youth up.
I have to agree with SaintSatan and Siddu's comments and must add that I think . . .
Sin is an assine concept, the very idea is horrendously stupid.
Religion has brought about a world full of self-flagellating freaks.
What's the deal anyway, is it fun to constantly tell yourself that at best you are constantly 'falling short of the mark', and that at worst you are vile beyond redemption?
That there's some omnipotent personality up on high whose ass you are not fit to wipe?
But whose ready to wipe your ass out (i.e. annihialate you) at any given moment or on some happy slaughter day in the future (armageddon)?
Someone who is doing you a favor by telling you you are a worthless turd?
That you tho having acted and reacted as a perfectly normal product of your environment are just WRONG and BAD?
Does that sound FUN?
Does that even make SENSE?
Thanks but no thanks, I'm done with that B.S.

Religion = Division
i started a new job today and there were several odd coincidences.
my new employer and co-worker were outside in the breezeway on a smoke break when a woman meandered by (yes she was meandering) she asked very casually in passing "would you care for some bible literature today?
" holding out a watchtower and awake as she passed.
Yeah Incense I live in a secured building and I got an offer from a witness over the phone several years ago "Hello, my name is ____ and I'm calling to offer you a bible study, we tried to call on you but your building is . . . "
Needless to say, it was an offer I could refuse.

My new employer and co-worker were outside in the breezeway on a smoke break when a woman meandered by (yes she was meandering) she asked very casually in passing "Would you care for some bible literature today?" holding out a watchtower and awake as she passed. We all said no and she continued her casual pace.
It was weird because she never even altered her pace, she was just meandering kind of dreamily along and she really didn't seem to be at all interested in what she was doing.
Then it got weirder.
I said flippantly "I used to be one of them." And my new boss said her sister is one and she hasn't really spoken to her since she became one except to tell her that if she was ever on her deathbed in need of blood she had better not look to her because she would be out of luck.
It was weird coincidences all day. I also found out my boss has 5 sisters also! Needless to say I don't have that in common with many people.
There were several more coincidences but I won't bother with them . . . you know once you start noticing them they just multiply. I couldn't count them anymore.
Anyway, the witness wasn't the first that I have run into lately that just seems to be on autopilot . . . the ones I have been running into don't seem to have any passion.
Is this a growing trend? Has anyone else had similar experiences with witnesses lately?
Raven101
this is a sincere question.
do you worry about offending active witnesses?
Hi Wholewheat, would like to answer your question, however you did not make clear what you meant.
Are you speaking of direct attacks, and or confrontations . . . are you speaking of discrediting, and or attacking the beliefs, or are you referring to something else entirely?
Just what exactly do you mean please?
Anyhow nice to see you here
