Haha, it's a username I created from back when I was still in both closets and didn't want a username that couldn't identify me at all.

The fact that this conversation is even happening means that we have a serious problem with insecurities when it comes to sexuality. I know I'm gay, and I know that noone or nothing can change that. I've seen women that I think are beautiful, and if it comes up in conversation, I'm not afraid to say it. I know that saying it won't magically change my sexuality, or make me any less of a person, and the same feelings should be shared by heterosexuals. I know many do, but not enough of them do.

Any gay exJW's?
by Trapped in JW land inwas just wondering how many gay exjw's were on this site, and how did you deal with being in this organization?
and also, how did you end up leaving?.

I'm gay myself. I left because I was done with school and thus it wouldn't hurt me to make my exit, although I was already mentally out for a year. I couldn't be myself and felt like a hypocrite trying to convert others. Once I realized the full-extent of the hypocrisy, I couldn't do field service for one more day. My parents and my sister hate my guts, and don't even tell me when family members die. I've since graduated, got a job, got a car, and got myself a place of my own, which so happens to be right across the street from the building my parents are in.

Did anyone in the congregation discourage you from going to college?
by Trapped in JW land ini remember being out on service with an elder when i was 17. he asked me what i plan on doing after high school.
i told him i was thinking of going to college to be a teacher.
he then asked me, "do you think this system is going to be around that long"?

A CO's wife tried to get me to quit engineering school and go to bethel to "complete" my degree. I'm sure that "completing my degree" would have included being an all fours scrubbing people's shit out of toilets for a while instead of studying. Needless to say, I didn't agree to that.

Ever feel like you were faking it as a JW when you weren't?
by punkofnice ini guess this is cognitive dissonance calling loud and clear!.
i remember being proud to be a jw yet at the same time i felt that i was just fooling myself.. i think this also applies to the stupid doctrines of the watchtower(r).......they made sense but at the same time they didn't.. i had secret self loathing for not being 'zealous(tm)' enough but on the other hand i didn't.. seems to me i had a separation of authentic persona from cult persona.. anyone else get this?.

When I was still a believer, I secretly but regularly watched gay porn. I don't know how I justified it. After a period of trying to stop watching it, I just said "fuck this" and went back to watching it.
Because of this, there were times when I felt like a total hypocrite going door to door. It wasn't long before I discovered TTATT.

Interestingly enough, I'm 22 and gay, and I can't seem to attract anyone but guys like the one you posted a picture of. It's very discouraging.
The only time I've had a little bit of success but not really was when I ran into some tourists from europe at the beach. They were cute, nice, some a little freaky (I love that), and amazing, but none of them were locals :(

The first step toward apostasy
by Socrateswannabe in"the first step toward apostasy is a drop in field service activity.
i have read that statement in wts publications and heard it many times from the platform.
i haven't studied philosphy so i'm not sure what type of logical fallacy this is an example of, but it is one for sure.

WTF Soc? Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. If you don't like it, GTFO! His statement makes every bit of sense, and has a literal meaning for me personally.

Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

My mom told me that I have to be careful when reading the bible, because Satan might try to use it to trick me.
