A Complete lack of Empathy with a huge side order of Foulness !

over the last few years i have experienced in general a lack of sincerity and empathy from jw's .. i won't lie 2 sisters i knew to be different and quite genuine ... all be it still sipping the 'cool aid' though.

but on the whole most brothers/sisters i've met couldn't really care less or just have no idea how to genuinely connect.

one sister asked me a year ago how things were with my husband (an un-believer) i replied " a bit strange right now" (in hindsight it was always made worse because i was in a cult!!

Overlapping Generation

If you insert overlapping before generation the song no longer works, it does not tell the story as it was written, it makes no sense!

I postulate that overlapping generation has been formulated to overcome the failed 1914 prediction, the increasing anointed numbers and to perpetuate the Cult of FDS for the foreseeable future.

For just as inserting overlapping before generation in the song makes no sense, inserting overlapping before generation in Matthew 24:34 makes even less sense, as these are the words of Jesus himself, if he meant overlapping generation then he would have said so. But the reality is, he did not say this, so logically he did not mean this!

Just handed in my Disassociation letter

tonight my dl was posted by hand by my husband (a worldly guy).

i had the luxury of being at work distracted whilst he posted it.

i have been baptised for just over 2 years and studied since 2010. i couldn't take it anymore, not just the zealous dislike/disgust for 'people in the world' (this includes my husband and 99% of my family btw) but the obvious.... the investigations into child sexual abuse.

Liked your post, I bet the help from the elders was not there for you, as it has never been for any of us, perhaps instead of being judgemental they should be this:

Do they do this? They do the complete opposite! Why? Because they believe they are not the slaves, but rather the masters of us, or so they think. They say they love the sheep, but it is always the sheep's fault!

That elder with his supercilious grin on his face, is as many others have stated, downright creepy. If he was genuinely concerned for this woman his facial reactions would have indicated this. Her story should have ripped his heart out, instead he was enjoying his Andy Warhol, 15 minutes of fame.

i may be on a diatribe now but something has came back to me tonight.. during my studies i was always told that "silence is compliance".

this would come up whilst i was 'putting on the new personality'.

i would be reminded of possible social situations or associations where if my integrity was at all compromised by someone else's standards -my silence to their un-christian actions would be deemed as compliance.

Fully agree with your post, it is funny how if you remain silent you are guilty of compliance, when they remain silent it is because others are not deserving of the truth.

What they fail to understand, is what is in the song "Silence is Golden" by The Tremeloes:

Silence is golden
But my eyes still see

They can remain silent, but others can see exactly what they are.

Where do I start telling a psychologist about the mental trauma I feel as a fading jw?

i am on a pension, so i could not afford to pay for a psychologist, but my good doctor referred me to a free clinic for people on a low income, for my anxiety and depression, so i have finally got my first appointment with a psychologist since i started my fade, so where do i start trying to explain the mental trauma i feel as a fading jw?

i would appreciate your advice.

Like you I recently joined this forum after 25 years in the truth, but unlike you I haven't suffered mentally from this cult as you have. Therefore, I cannot fully understand your pain, but I do sympathize with you. All I can say is what everyone else has already suggested, just be yourself and be honest.

Any psychologist who knows what they are doing will be able to help you and ease your pain. If it helps a friend of mine had some counselling a while back it would seem that most psychologist's are fully aware of this cult and it's harmful practices.
