CONGRATULATIONS!!
Another advantage : instead of spending all that money on the reception, use it to get married at a nice location, like on a cliff top or private garden, then splash out for an exotic honeymoon somewhere. Tres romantic!

take pride in organisation?.
could it be that jehovah gave the law to the israelites not so much as a blessing but also as a curse to teach them that 'organised religion' is not so good after all?.
jws as an organisation take pride that they are organised, presumably, mirroring gods arrangement with israel (literal israel = fds, gentile supporters = "great crowd", the 'nephinim' and 'sons of the servants of solomon' = jw administration from the number of the other sheep [see wt april 15 1992], 3 yearly festivals = 3 yearly jw conventions and assemblies etc, jewish priestly mediatorship = wt borg (see, i used this word :)).
Well, you stuck this old ex-jw on the head! Great arguement here against organised religion. I have in my own experience seen the disadvantages in trying to do things for the benefit of the organisation, to the detriment to the individual. It makes sense that the Jewish system didn't work when you have rules upon rules. Jesus gave us just 2 commandments (love God, and love your neighbour). Pretty simple to follow, eh?
now and again it's good for the heart and mind to take a break and have a good laugh, so here you go....( i found this on a web site).
ciao.
gianluca.
Gianluca,
The lines get messed up sometimes when we cut and paste from emails/web-sites to here. Don't know why, just happens. (And God smiled knowingly.)
Great post, btw! Had me chuckling all the way through.
my name is clark.
i have been disfellowshiped since december 31, 1991. i attended the redwood city north congregation and was disfellowshipped along with an elder on the same night...you do the "mathwork.".
i am new to this sight (about 1/2 hour) and am not familiar with the format of the do's and don'ts ... or even if i should be here.... however, i have a question for anyone...(and i'm ready for the answers whether it be from over enthusiastic jw's or people who understand...or from anyone in between).. i was disfellowshipped because i openly admitted before 3 elders that i am gay and lived this life as a gay man despite being previously a regular pioneer and a ministerial servant.
I'm not gay either, but I just want to welcome you here. We don't care if you're gay or straight, male or female, jw or non-jw. Friendly, supportive and interesting people abound on this db, and we're glad you are here!
the april issue of 'kingdom ministry' contains advice on what to do when you get new neighbours.. witnesses are told to identify themselves as jehovah's witnesses.
suggestions on how to go about this are given.. 1. call on them in field service.. 2.
"when you...see them working in their yard.
With advice like this, it's clear these people haven't lived in the real world for a very long time.
I think of this everytime I ride the crowded bus to work each morning.
How these guys can imagine the average person who has to get up at 6.30-7am to catch the bus or train in time, or drive in peak hour traffic, work in a stressful job for 8 hours with people that don't live like the rest of JWs do, then catch another crowded bus/train/road home, grab a bite, feed/bathe/clothe the kids if you have any, and then try to get to the meeting before 7.25pm!
Then do this twice a week, plus the Sunday meeting, and witnessing on weekends, plus studying for the meeting, plus preparation for any talks you may have to give ......
And try to look after the house, shop for food, clean the car, keep up with friends, family, ...
Phew! Makes me tired just thinking about it!!
hi ya'all, it me, antique!.
wow!
i like this site much better than the new h2o!
Hello and welcome.
I remember reading your posts on H2O - I enjoyed your posts there and I look forward to your insights here as well.
australia's service report for january shows 59,111 reporting and just 42 baptized.. this compares with 59,908 and 98 last year.
the 1999 figures were 60,917 publishers and 56 baptized.. this represents a 3% drop in just two years.. ozzie (of the new world statisticians class)
awww... I was just getting used to being a lady of ill repute...
on my post asking about the wts valley farms, osarsif posted an interesting link to a french web site which has a list of the different wts corporations among them there is this one:.
watchtower bible and tract society of florida, inc. (incorporated 1986).
president : leonard r. pearson .
ahh, a voice of reason...
I don't condone the wrong things the WTS does, but it does detract from our voice of reason when speculations are added to fuel the fire.
Then again, Gianluca may have been just making a joke!

LOL...
well if you're going to become part of any other organisation, you might as well be part of the so-called Whore of the World?

I'm part of that 3% !
January 2000 was the last time I handed in a service report. Or maybe I should say, the last report I'll ever hand in.
