Hi Paul,
When I saw the name "didgeridoo" I got all excited, thinking there was another Aussie on board. Oh well, since you're British that's almost as good!
Welcome and enjoy!
well, i'd just like to say hello to you all and introduce myself.
i've spoken to a few of you on chat and i must say this site is well worth logging on to.
it's nice to be able to speak to people who share a common experience to myself, although at times i've found since i've been here through the last week, it has started me thinking again of my experiences in the truth...is this good or bad?.

imagine that you had never heard of the watchtower.
imagine that your life and that of your families had never been influenced by wt teachings.. i know for a fact that the wt's philosophy on further education contributed to my not achieving what i should have at school.
this is not to shirk the responsibility for my grades; ultimately they were my responsibility.
hmm.. well.. thank you for your soothing words of encouragement - not!
do they really believe in armaggeddon?.
i thought i would kick of my prescence here by starting a thread!.
do the governing body really believe that armaggeddon is just around the corner?.
Path,
I have no doubt there are those who DO have regrets, but would the WTS let these ones get on the platform and say so?
Would they print the article "I Waited For Armegeddon to Come for 70 years, and Now I'm Broke and Have No Children or Grandchildren to Support Me"....???
My grandmother became a Witness in the early 1930s. She lived for the day when she could "walk through into the New System". She died aged 91. She had a good life, but I don't intend to wait for 60 years like she did, putting my life on hold. I'm fortunate that I'm still young enough to do something with my life. I wasted enough years looking forward to a promise that never came true.

ROTFLOL...
This is very good! As an office worker, I can relate to this.
thank you for this board i was enjoying many of the posts here for some time.
being from russia, i also enjoy this melting pot atmosphere of the fearless norse, nonchalant aussies and unostentatious americans and i really do like your britishers jolly good sense of humour.. and then comes slang: i was enjoying deciphering all the btw fyi imo imho acronyms.
today that i think i understood what lol means i decided to sign in.
Dear Drue,
Thank you for your interesting comments and welcome to the board!
I can relate to many of your comments as I attended the International Convention in Moscow in 1993, and I observed much the same in regard to the differences between the Russian witnesses and the Western witnesses. I do believe the Russians have a deeper appreciation for anything spiritual, yet their naivety lets them be easily conned by the false promises of the WTS.
I also remember the Russians' penchant for applause! In the final talk at the Convention, given by the Big Man himself, Henschel, there was one spot where the crowd applauded for 10 mins! I'm not exaggerating here! And it was heartful clapping, not the half-hearted efforts of a bored Western crowd!
I wish you well, Drue. You have done a lot of travelling for a Russian, and you are in an unique position as regards educating those who leave the "Borg" in Russia. Nice to "meet" you!
on this board our russian friend drue asked what are the so called borgs.
if i remember well i think the following was posted on the "old" h20 quite some time ago by a certain "worldlywitness".
i personally found it was a great post, i hope you will enjoy it too!.
Good post Gianluca!

Good questions, Rick.
I doubt the GB and others at the top can really believe in the end being as close as they'd like us to believe. Yet they can't come up with anything else that will keep the R & F in, so they continue down the same party line.
I've always wondered, if the R & F really believe the end is so close, then why don't they sell their houses, cash in their supperannuation cheques, and go pioneering? Isn't that what they think would be the best way of spending their remaining months or years of "this old system"?
Or do you think the R & F is slowly wising up to the false promises of the WTS? :O
Hi Rob,
any friend of the Thinkers is a friend of mine - welcome!
does it seem plausible to you that some of the society's apparent flip-flops on doctrine are simply errors by the writing department?.
for instance, take the question of whether the inhabitants of sodom and gomorrah will be resurrected.
around 1989, the revised edition of you can live forever in paradise said no, the insight book said something else and the revelation climax book said something else.
But.. but.. but... wouldn't Jehovah's spirit in helping them stay awake enough to read the articles His holy spirit has directed the brothers to write??

i was in the live chat today and was chatting with achristian ( tell your wife i'll dye my hair blonde, if it keeps you out of the doghouse[8>] ),logical, and a few others about the subject of worshipping jesus.
my nwt is the 1961 version and still has the word "worship" in hebrews 1:6. i decided to do a search on my cd to see if i could figure out what year it was that it was revised and the word worship taken out an replaced.
i figured i'd share with you all a "sarcastic" answer the wbts gave in the question from readers section of a watchtower.
JanH,
make mine a vodka-lime-soda thanks!
