  The Society, Race, and an always white Adam.

  okay, it's an old question but we haven't examined it here yet so let's have your thoughts.. adam was the progenitor of the whole human race, from his genes sprang the negroid, caucasian, mongoloid, indo-european and every other race on the planet.. the hebrew people were not selected as jehovah's chosen nation until abram had found favour with god so presumably all races were equal in his eyes before then [as indeed they always have been].. so then, what basis is there, if any, for deciding what adam and eve's skin colour may have been?.

  could they not indeed have been black?.

  this is a pointless discussion i grant you.

  I find the quote from the 47 Watchtower to be terribly ignorant and obviously written from a white man's viewpoint.

  I am not African, but I was engaged to an African, and knew several of his African friends, and I would say that they DO know love, but on a deeper and more spiritual level to the white man. They have love within themselves, and a spirituality that most white men lack. eg. Compare the harmonising and enthusiasm of black gospel singers to the dry renderings in mostly-white Kingdom Halls.

  The African way of thinking may not be the same as how a white man would perceive things, but then why should it? We all are affected by the cultures we grow up in, and the culture we choose to live in. Culture affects our attitudes, ways of thinking, likes, dislikes and often the religion that we believe in, or not believe in.

  AS for Adam and Eve, I've always pictured them as being a mixture of the future races, so that maybe Adam looked more like part African/part Hispanic, while Eve was part white/part Asian. Who knows? Does it make any difference to us how the Society portrays them?

  discarding of plastic objects by the thoughtless creates problems and is handily pointed out by the wts and besides it must be a real pain to trip over plastic bottles and stuff , particularly if youre in the countryside...................... *** w93 2/15 3 paradise or garbage dump-which do you prefer?

  Good pick up, ISP. Plastic bottles are only ok when the witnesses use them.

  I find it surprising that they don't put the magazines online. It would save countless tonnes of paper, as well as allowing the mags to be available to those who never see the witnesses.

  But they would be too logical, huh?

  Notice that I said "I have become a more compassionate person"??

  "I've especially become nore tolerant of non-christian."

  I was talking from my own experience, DA. The way I was brought up to be a JW was not a terribly compassionate way. We were taught to hate "false" religion. Don't your Watchtowers say that, DA?

  I was not talking about all JWs, DA. Please don't think everyone is persecuting you because you are a JW, which is another mind-set I've been able to put aside.

  that post about being denied priveledges if one decides to get a vasectomy is just too much.

  i am truly appalled at the presumptiousness of these people who think they can control their followers to this degree.

  Uni girl,

  I can understand your feelings, and I congratulate you in moving on with your life.

  The reasons why many on this board like to examine and discuss the doctrines and goings-on in the JW world are many. Some of those who once believed find it hard to wonder how they ever got duped in, as many came in as intelligent adults. Others who leave are trying to get some understanding of what the Scriptures really say, so examining what they once believed helps them to sort out their new belief system. Many of us still have family members who are still jws, so to be able to reason scriptually and logically on incorrect teachings is important in trying to help our relatives reason on things.

  And congratulations also on your upcoming marriage. As you said, it helps to be with someone who understands what went on.
