SFJim, good point. I wrote this from work, and so at the moment I dont have the luxury of going through Google searches just yet. I thought I'd quickly write up this thread to get everyone's thoughts before the majority of the board participants go to bed.

Ghost Hauntings in Churches?
by Prisca infirst off, i don't intend for this thread to be a debate about people who believe in ghosts, or whether ghosts really exist.
this is just a question about reported sightings/stories about ghosts.. last night i had a dream where i was in a church that was haunted by a ghost.
although the concept probably isn't totally impossible, it is something that i hadn't heard of before.. has anyone ever heard of a church being haunted by a ghost?

Why do they bury people that commit suicide?
by Blue inif they think suicide is so wrong and then drive people to it by disfellowshipping them or threatening them with disfellowshipping

Why is it so heartless to not want to waste money on burial plots, caskets and headstones when cremation is a much cheaper option?
Why waste money on the dead when that money is better spent on the living - eg your children's education, health insurance etc.
How often do any of you go to visit the graves of your parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts or great-grandparents? Every week, every month, every year?
To me, what is important is not the grave or headstone, but the loving memories my family have left behind. I don't go and visit graves or cremation niches to remember my loved ones by. I have many fond memories that pay tribute to the effect they had on my life. And I know that is what they would want to be remembered by. Not some fancy headstone on an expensive burial plot.

Has anyone ever heard of a church being haunted by a ghost? You would presume that a supposed house of God would be immune from such things, but you never know.

Certainly is Smack, now that you mention the name Visocchi. I know there's a family of them that now live in Tamworth, nice family. Forgot that they were related to you, but now that I think about it I remember being told that your cousin M is related to GV & LV in Tamworth.

Maybe the JWs decided to have a cremation rather than have a proper coffin, burial plot and stone simply because they couldn't afford it. JWs are not the richest people on earth, and funerals are very expensive, so cremations are the cheapest option.
BTW, why are you taking what the grave digger is saying as gospel? Did he have a direct conversation with the JWs? Or did he get the info 3rd hand?
Also, if you were once a JW, wouldn't you know what the JW stance is?

They are too stingy to give people water or do something to help those walking home during the blackout. They are too stingy to set up a help center during the WTC bombing or to offer assistance of some kind to those coming out of the debris, but they can spend FIFTY MILLION on more printing.
Real Christian love in action eh? Gotta keep those presses rolling.

I'm at a loss...dazzzed and confused...
by Red Witch inwhy is it when so many of you have left the "oh so illusrious" organization, want to have possesion of their publications?
unless, as far as i can figure, you are still somewhat enthralled, dazzed and confused with what they have to say.
when i left, so did all their propaganda.

I don't read or collect anything recent but I do have plenty of old publications, and publications from recent times that contain changes (like the QFR article that said blood fractions were ok).
Why? Because I still have family trapped in the Borg, so I keep the publications to be able to prove things from their own publications. A staunch JW will not take seriously a quote that has been photocopied or that comes from the internet just in case it has been tampered with. So I keep the original publications, so they can see with their own eyes what the WTS said in years past.
