LongHairGal,
I can only imagine. Lots of hierachy and peer pressure. In the last days of her attending my mother refered to herself and other low status sisters as "sister zero'.
if you read my book "new boy" i talked about a girl i met in 1972 at a convention in allentown pa. i fell in love with her at first sight.
however a problem came up a couple of months later, when i met and fell in love with my future wife, debbie.
both women's mothers didn't like me at all (go figure) and it was literally a coin toss between the two women.

the following is an extract from an article i wrote when i left the watchtower 25 years ago.
it may be helpful in reasoning with a jw about the anointed/great crowd distinction.. --------------------------------.
to divide people into those with a heavenly hope and those with an earthly one is not a biblical concept.
"It may also with the strictest propriety be said, that the irrational creation was subjected to vanity, not willingly, but by the authority of God. It shared in the penalty of the fall — "Cursed is the earth for thy sake." Genesis 3:17. And it is said still to suffer for the sins of its inhabitants: "Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth," Isaiah 24:6; "How long, shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein?" Jeremiah 12:4. "

Allowing old testament symbolism, the new heavens and earth sounds so much like the current situation with saints and sinners that some have concluded we have been in them since AD 70.
i could not find mention of this before.
i was reading genesis 8:22 in the niv and was surprised i had never noticed that this verse gives the impression that the earth will not remain forever.
genesis 8:22 stated by god after the flood, when promising to never again destroy all living creatures.. as long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.
Aion/olam is translated according to the translators understanding of the context. It usually means a long time.
Covenant cosmotology is biblical. Revelation 20:11 speaks of heavens and earth fleeing at the white throne. They are not literal.
I dont think the ancient Jews concerned themselves much with natural cosmotology.
There is a good paper here:

Russell and the JWs are famous for picking verses that may imply something not taught in the Bible. Jesus said the meek shall inherit the earth, hey we can use that as "evidence" of our 2 classes doctrine. However Paul does teach different rewards
hi , would someone help me please with some info about the nwt .
during my study time l have been reading john 1:1-14 and colossians 1:15-17 .
both these passages indicate that jesus was not created as the wt asserts .
Earnest,
Were the Jews Arians? Did they believe that "one of the chief princes" (Daniel 10:21) had created the world? Where is this outragious doctrine taught?
the religion/corporation has changed constantly since the start.
they appear more whacko than ever.. but, were the jws ever anywhere near a bona fide religion at any time?.
disclaimer: i think all religions are a scam.
Sure he wanted to start a new religion like Joseph Smith. He was considered a prophet as well by his followers despite the much more careful attempts to conceal it. He was not the humble Bible student that merely saw a message he wanted to share with the world. The lack of humility and imaginations of own grandeur are striking

No, Russell's vision is not in the Bible. It is not there, it russell-light created by the false prophet who was wrong about just about anything biblically speaking. Salvation has nothing to do with being taught and examined. That is ridiculous. He attacked universalists whom knew the biblically revealed answers that are far better.
