Only One Destiny for All Christians
by cofty inthe following is an extract from an article i wrote when i left the watchtower 25 years ago.
it may be helpful in reasoning with a jw about the anointed/great crowd distinction.. --------------------------------.
to divide people into those with a heavenly hope and those with an earthly one is not a biblical concept.

Russell and the JWs are famous for picking verses that may imply something not taught in the Bible. Jesus said the meek shall inherit the earth, hey we can use that as "evidence" of our 2 classes doctrine. However Paul does teach different rewards

Earnest,
Were the Jews Arians? Did they believe that "one of the chief princes" (Daniel 10:21) had created the world? Where is this outragious doctrine taught?

Were the JWs ever anywhere near a bona fide religion?
by punkofnice inthe religion/corporation has changed constantly since the start.
they appear more whacko than ever.. but, were the jws ever anywhere near a bona fide religion at any time?.
disclaimer: i think all religions are a scam.

Sure he wanted to start a new religion like Joseph Smith. He was considered a prophet as well by his followers despite the much more careful attempts to conceal it. He was not the humble Bible student that merely saw a message he wanted to share with the world. The lack of humility and imaginations of own grandeur are striking

No, Russell's vision is not in the Bible. It is not there, it russell-light created by the false prophet who was wrong about just about anything biblically speaking. Salvation has nothing to do with being taught and examined. That is ridiculous. He attacked universalists whom knew the biblically revealed answers that are far better.

What mostly disturbed me about Russell was the datesetting with its hellbend certaincy, the unruly spirit that certainly did not give me peace and the disdain for biblical context. What especially surprises me to this day is how he got away with preaching the millennium as a place of learning and second chances without a shred of Bible evidence. It is clear he saw himself in competition with the universalists whom he condemned a few times as well. -

When is a religion ever bona fide from the perspective that all religion is a scam. Russells religion was benevolent but still had elements to be considered wacko. When Rutherford took over and the movement got the jw name things got a lot worse. Systematic shunning and blood policy came after Rutherford though

Where is the best comprehensive NWT error list?
by Jake101 inhi.
while there are many excellent web sites that explain a few jw nwt bible translation problems, are there any comprehensive lists of nwt scripture errors online please?.
thanks .

To be fair it seems Evangelical and celebrity scholars condemned the NWT because of conservative and Evangelical beliefs. It becomes a sort of tagiya when you dont express clearly that the nwt translation of John 1:1 is grammatically possible but go against what you believe the Bible overall teaches.

Would You Ever Go Back To The Witnesses??
by minimus inevery once in a while you hear people say they actually “miss” their old witness friends and or family.
some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

I might drop by and lurk if they turn towards mainstream and give up ideas about governing body, elders, 1914, Armageddon now, blood, shunning, no birthdays or santa etc.

Jordan Peterson - Messiah or Poseur?
by cofty ina jp video came up on my youtube feed last week - he was on a panel in front of a huge audience and some poor disturbed guy ran on stage and started crying and wailing to peterson that he needed his help.
it was agonising to watch.. what was even more disturbing was the comments section.
i do not exaggerate when i say that dozens of people were extolling peterson's wisdom as if jesus had come again.

He is a great speaker and like Milo he defends conservative values in his own way. I agree that Marxism, cultural relativism and the violent SA hordes from antifa is a great threat to the West.
