Rutherford knew from personal experience that religion was indeed a racket. Sheesh, what a house! I'd rather live there than in a once was a chemical dumpsite/Warwick.

You Have Been Looking Forward to This for a Long TIme - October 2nd 1914
by steve2 inpicture yourself as a member of the brooklyn bethel family on friday morning, october 2, 1914. you are seated at your usual place at the breakfast table, awaiting the arrival of brother c. t. russell.
suddenly the door to the dining room opens and brother russell appears.
he pauses for a moment, as is his custom, and greets the bethel family with a cheery “good morning, all.” but then, instead of immediately taking his place at the head of the table, he claps his hands and makes a thrilling announcement: “the gentile times have ended; their kings have had their day!” you can hardly contain your joy—you have been looking forward to this moment for a long time!

In 1914 my great grandmother was 27 years old and a believer. She died 80 years later at 107 years of age.
With her "help" now five generations of her descendants believe(d) that the "end" is near. (with the exception of me and my family) Even though we live in the era of "post-truth" where people will believe anything regardless of the facts, it's hard to describe the belief system of the JW's as anything but fantasy.
Nice post.

Greetings and would like some advice about a potentially fun idea
by towerwatcher inhello fellow apostates!

i would like to thank all of you for the existence of this board as this has been instrumental for me in leaving the place i once knew as "the truth".

Pointing out the obvious....Who would wear these? Not a big money maker IMHO. Not even enough to raise the ire of the WT's legal beagles. Sorry if I've let the air out of the baloon.

Why Finding the One True Religion is Impossible
by Simon injws like to think they have found the one true religion.
but like so many other religious people, it's usually the religion they were born into, the only religion they know because it's the first one they found or, at the most, one of two or three (typically the second one after they left their first / born-in faith).. the trouble is, there simply isn't enough time to explore and investigate each and everyone of the many thousands of belief systems, religions and sects around the world.. think of it this way: which is the best neighbourhood to live in where you would be most happy and most successful?
not just in the city or even the country you are in, but the entire world.. how would you ever know?

Wriggling Like A Worm On A Hook???
by Disassociated Lady 2 injust been reading this week's study article for the jws:.
imagine that an experienced guide is leading you on a tour of a wondrous and beautiful city.
the city is new to you and to those with you, so you hang on to the guide’s every word.

So...You're a gullible tourist hanging on the words of a lunatic bent on separating you from your money. Just for the sake of accuracy, I think this is a better comparison.

The Book of Mormon
by dubstepped inmy wife and i went to see it today at the encouragement of some of our new friends.
we laughed until we cried, and it was so cathartic to sit in a room full of hundreds of people laughing at the ridiculousness of religion.
sure, the subject is mormonism, but it was very poignant and applicable to all religion.

What you need to to do is get a Ouija board.....Then ask the spirit realm if they're haunting your house.

Sunday's WT...funny, but sad for Dubs...
by DATA-DOG indespite my often smart-ass exterior, i really don't have any desire to see the r&f dubs suffering.
i really do worry about the mental and emotional turmoil that they will experience, if and when the wtbts is truly exposed as a scam.
i know it seems unlikely to happen, but you never know..... anyway, the wt for the week was cringe-worthy to say the least.

The ancients weren't stupid. They could observe the moon and come to the same conclusion.
That supports creationism how?

Dr Monica Applewhite's evidence rejected by Australian Child Abuse Royal Commission
by jwleaks inaustralian child abuse royal commission rejects dr monica applewhite's evidence and testimony.. [quote] dr applewhite acknowledged that her report did not identify the basis on which she had formed her opinions.657 she accepted that her report failed to identify the ‘current standards’ of other religious organisations658 or which ‘religious organisations’ she referred to in writing her report.659 dr applewhite told the royal commission that her understanding of material provided to parents and families about sexual development in children by other faith-based organisations was ‘anecdotal’.660.
dr applewhite accepted that it would be difficult for the royal commission to accept the opinions expressed in paragraphs 36, 45, and 46 of her report because her report did not identify the basis on which those opinions were formed.661.
we do not consider that dr applewhite’s report and the opinions expressed therein assist the royal commission in its inquiry for the following reasons:.
