I've met Dan Sydlick and was very impressed by him. I like to think I would recognise hypocrisy when I see it and I saw not a trace in him, He honestly lives by his belieifs, which is a good example whatever ones beleifs. I found him a genuine individual, the only person I have heard say "GOd bless you" and not wanted to laugh at.

How do you want to 'go'?

of course, nobody really wants to die, but if you had a choice about how...how would you like to go?.

some people i know would like to pop their clogs after a game of golf, some in the pub with friends.. personally, i want to be shot in bed by a jealous husband when i'm 96.

Aged 106 in my beach house in Hawaii and my husband would be so upset he'd have to drop out of college!!

The Bishop of Carlisle- where have you heard this before?

in our local evening paper the bishop of carlisle was quoted as saying that homosexual acts, anal and oral sex and sex outside of marriage are signs of demon posession and proof positive of demon activity in the world.

he also said that miscarrages can bring demons into the world, as can abortions, those with mental illnesses or longstanding medical conditions that don't respond well to treatment could be possesed of a spirit, as could those who constantly wear black or repeatedly buy black cars.

i was reminded of those told by christian elders that they may havr allowed satan in due to some activity or occurence of depression.

Were you married at the Kingdom Hall ? How bad was your wedding reception ?

i'm just wondering...... i remember going to some wedding receptions for couples who got married at the kingdom hall,.

and i hate to be mean but, super boring, and bad, how bad you ask ??

ok here we go ..... - the worst had to be one couple played kingdom meolodies for their wedding dances, i couldn't believe it.. - no alcohol (i'm sure we all experienced a few of these), reception was over by 9:30.. - no music at all, just a gathering of people, and they ended the reception with a prayer, i thought i was at an assembly.. - food, like if you can't afford to get married don't, like frozen stuff bought at your local grocery store, and still in the package when you got up to the tables, how tacky.. - you could always tell a couple who couldn't afford much, when you had to drive 50 miles into the back woods to find some dinky little community hall they rented for $100.. - i remember one where the bride was pregnant, i was really surprised they allowed them to use the kingdom hall.. - another classic was, they had this band (of all jw's of course) and man they were bad.

Our wedding turned out fine, in neighbouring congs. KH cos we fell out with our PO. Talk was great, actually funny and personalised. We hired the 6th form college where I work for the reception and had it catered so was very pleasant. Sun shone which helped, In November!!

Been to some truly awful ones though that had to be seen to be believed, and I agree with the comment that many dubs marry SO young to have sex, although I can't believe that all have made it to thier wedding day 'pure'. Cong I grew up in insisted on putting on 'shows' for receptions which were the most toe-curling spectacles to behold. One elder blacked up to sing Jolson songs. Very PC. One couple had to get fathers permission to marry as she was only 17 and they couldn't wait for another 6 months. Reason became apparent 9 months later when what they claimed was a premature baby put in an appearence. At 10 lbs 20z pemature my ass!

UK only - What assembly circuit were you in?

i think there are about 20 cong in each circuit (correct me if i'm wrong).

i was in the sussex circuit, can't remember which number though.

any of you remember which circuit you're cong was assigned to?.

What doctrines do you still believe in?

In my mind I always imagined a knock on the door one day and there would be Grandma or whoever. But she would be a young women and i would only recognise her from photos I had seen. Would I still love her as much now, because this would not appear to be the person who helped raise me? So family ties would all take on new forms, but this would be ok because after all, "Jehovah is opening his hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing".

So this is how a doctrine of pleasure can bring pain and confusion. I like your notion that they are always with us, and in many ways as long as we are here, so are they.
