The question has been argued for 2000 years folks. That, and what happened to the body, did Jesus' body come to life or not? Solutions are only limited by imagination.
Further, the resurrection stories are impossible to reconcile with each other.
i have seen arguments surrounding jesus' resurrection being proof of "the trinity" - now while in some cases it's a good argument the evidence for it remains very weak.
(bible quotes are from the nwt but other bibles are referenced, use whichever you please) this following version of it is a good example.. "the bible indicates that all [persons] of the trinity was involved in jesus’ resurrection.
galatians[1:1] says that the father raised jesus from the dead.

sorry, i didn't know how to classify this- on some cooking boards i am on i came across how some do not understand pumpkin pie at all, particularly down under.
there was a whole thread about picking up libby's pumpkin pie filling (and the expense) and then came the subject of vegemite which does not sound good to me but can't say as i have never had it.
with all the sugar and spices what is not to like about it?
Marmite and vegemite are awful. Sorry. An acquired taste no doubt. I made a pie using cantaloupe (musk melon) first cousins to squash you know. Very nice. Any winter squash will work though butternut is my favorite. Pumpkin pie is traditional at thanksgiving as a new variety of squash the Indians shared with them.
Pecan pie is the best, but diabetic strychnine.

that never really made sense to me, but it was still a purpose to keep going.
Just don't go in hock buying a sports car and hitting the bars. lol
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/scottish_national_party - "however, others in the party were explicitly pro-nazi.
hugh macdiarmid, who stood as an snp candidate in 1945, believed that the nazis were "less dangerous than our own government" and wrote a poem about the london blitz that included the line "i hardly care".
arthur donaldson, who went on to lead the party between 1961 and 1969, believed a nazi invasion would benefit scotland: "the government would leave the country and england's position would be absolutely hopeless, as poverty and famine would be their only reward for declaring war on germany.
As an American I shamefully know just about nothing about the politics over there. Slimboy,,what made you no longer support the SNP? I see on wiki they have some members resisting LGBTQ rights. Was that the issue? From what I read online the party has, unsurprisingly, evolved quite dramatically from WW2 days

Psalm 45 is a marriage song sung for a polygamist warring King marrying yet another princess of another people (Tyre of Phoenicia) . It is impossible to definitively identify the original intended King but many have sought to do that. (Interestingly Ahab's marriage to Jezebel has been persuasively argued.)
The Psalm has stirred the imagination of Jews and Christians alike. Jews connect it with the Messiah as did the writer of Hebrews, who of course saw Jesus in that role.
This line about the bride and groom having sons/ princes filling the role of their fathers, simply means inheriting the throne in a dynastic sense. The wildly ill fitting interpretation of the WT unfortunately isn't that much worse than the writer of Hebrews.
To identify this as a "prophecy" of Jesus should be offensive to Christians. Here we have a King disobediently marrying many foreign wives and the song revels in violence and extravagance.

I've given lots of opinions already, but just one more...
Many of the comments in this thread reflect changes in us and we assume the changes are with them.. Middle age , relationship loss, new job even. These alter our perspective. What worked for us before may not now. I like to think I outgrew the church but maybe we just grew apart. I knew the church held views that could not be defended honestly long before I left. It was a piece of the puzzle, sure, but what really got my goat (no pun intended) was the inability to talk freely with people. Distrust of me and inability to relate to them made continuing there impossible. I've grown a lot in understanding about the history of Christianity and science since then that confirms my decision, but it came down to the church's mold no longer fit me or I'd probably still be there burying my thoughts.

Even at an amusement park you can focus on the latrines and vomit. A free week's pass at Disneyland will come to an end. Should you not go and enjoy yourself?
I know a woman (a die hard fan) who won a contest to go to a Pro football game with celebrity box seats, she declined the prize because she didn't want to pay the taxes. Don't be her.

If you recall what was the "purpose" of life promised in the paradise? Eat, music, art, pets, learning new things, enjoy the company of friends, and make a home. Its what we want, what we need so it was attractive. They never promised a 'purpose' beyond that. The 'serve God' element was undefined and nebulous.
What generally kept us from existential malaise, when the religion was working for us, was "the program", the duties, the sense of selflessness of giving our time.
Some military veterans feel similarly, their former life was structured and in many ways defined by a command hierarchy. Many counselors recommend simple things like getting involved with the community, join a club, do volunteer work, anything to rebuild an identity and learn that life's "purpose" is exactly what you are doing that occupies your mind and fills the heart.
recall the famous charge made against jesus in his trial in the gospel mark: .
“we heard him say, ‘i will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days i will build another, not made with hands.’”.
matt has a shorter version which likely reflects what he saw in his copy of mark *:.
You likely know the Gospels were written anonymously. Some editor in the 2nd century gave them names using some tradition perhaps. That the same person named them all is evident from the same formula "The Gospel According to...). I can't really call it plagiarism then. They were local community revisions. And there were many as is even evidenced in the opening of G.Luke where the author said there were many.
Interestingly the root document, G.Mark, is written with a structure and character of a public performance in the style of other playwrights of the day. (I'm abbreviating this position but if you like it can be examined in depth by googling.) That raises some interesting new questions. Was the play written for didactic purposes? an introduction of Christianity to a Jewish or Greek audience? Since nearly every story element was drawn from the Tanakh and other earlier works related to the Tanakh (and Homer), I see it as much like movies and plays we call historical fiction. According to this reconstruction, it became available as a transcript and became popular enough that revisions and expansions of it were distributed, each with a particular shade. Voila, we have the Synoptics. They shaped Christianity and the world like no other writing. And sadly the playwright must go nameless.
G.John like many other gospels of the second century reflects a hybrid Christianity of the post-Synoptic era. IMO it actually represents an earlier gnostic stage struggling to blend with the Jewish Messianic branches of Christianity rooted on the Synoptics. It stands as different from the Synoptics precisely because the community that created it was different. It's impossible to understand their positions without understanding the Jewish gnosticism and wisdom traditions.
pimo , as i said i`m going out on a limb here and i might upset some people ,but i really don`t think this is a real strategy that works and doesn`t help the person who is still in.. while you may be doing this to keep the peace in the household and keep relations somewhat stable in the family arrangement ,it`s not helping the person who is still under the control of wt/gb to break free from it ,and isn`t that what you would really like to happen ?.
and are their children involved as well ?
that`s another issue ,the longer they are subject to this control the harder it will be for them to disengage get free.. maybe you should re-evaluate what you could do more to help your partner / spouse or whatever to free themselves from this bondage they have involved themselves in.. [ of course their may be others who are quite happy to have their partners/mates under the control of the wt/gb.
Ask her if she wants to know what is bothering you. Her answer will tell you what to do.
