well maybe being a JW will clean him up. In a case like this perhaps being a JW is the lesser of two evils

Rebranding, restyling and rewriting - the transformation of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Gorbatchov indear friends,.
a few weeks i am thinking about what's going on with the religion we are focust on, jehovah's witnesses.. what i see is:.
- a rebranding of the religion's organization: just like rutherford rebranded the bible students into jehovah's witnesses,.

Quotes to discourage JWs from researching WT history?
by JWOP inare there any direct quotes from the watchtower's literature that discourages investigation into their past doctrines and practices?.
-
wallsofjericho
The WT does make a pretense of encouraging JWs to study the early history of the "earthly organization:"
Like them [the sons of Korah], do you have a desire to study and recount the history of the earthly part of Jehovah’s organization? The more you learn about God’s organization and how Jehovah supports his people, the more real God’s Kingdom will be to you. -- w2012 8/15, p. 12, para. 5 - [Emphasis added]
But imagine if all the JWs really did that! It would cause a nightmare of trouble for the GB.
but thats the beauty of suggesting this. They know that no one will take the time to research cause they are already over burdened with hectic "thoecratic" schedule. But by "saying" this the R&F have a retort to any suggesting the WTS is concealing its past indiscretions.
JW - "no, they're not hiding anything, they actually ENCOURAGE us to study the history of the organization. SEE! YOUR WRONG!"
free thinkin person - "have you ever studied the history then?"
JW - "I don't need to, I KNOW its the TRUTH"
free thinking person - *sigh...." fml" whispered under breath

My brother the Rule-Breaker
by freeflyingfaerie inhe called me yesterday, as he does every once in a while out of the clear blue...just to chat.
that's the best part, it wasnt' a memorial invite or tragic news.. my parents only ring me about deaths or to say hi to my little ones and see that i still have a pulse, and i only ring them to speak to my sister (with down's syndrome, she doesn't have her own phone) and tell them i love them.. my youngest brother only called once as a sheparding visit upon becoming knighted, or eldered, whatever it's called.
and my other brother and i havent had contact in five years (which is kind of amazing, as he was always a daredevil rebel).. my older brother, though, warmed my heart by being a bad boy and calling me and texting photos.

nice,
I still text and send pics to my brother even though he is DF'd. I am the only sibling to do this though, the others are not aware or I know they freak out on me.
of course I know TTATT so I have no inhibitions sending these, but I can't believe my sibling's can just pretend he doesn't exist. Such a BS religion

Generation continuing
by molybdenum inthis is what is written in the jan 2014 wt article .
let your kingdom comebut when?in his detailed prophecy about the conclusion of this system of things, jesus said: this generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen.
(read matthew 24:33-35.

Matthew 24:34 give us confidence that at least some of “this generation will by no means pass away” before seeing the start of the great tribulation
Love it. They just can't commit to anything now. It always has to have a back door built into it. The WTS has already said they don't keep a global data base of anointed "nor do [they] need to".
By the time this matters the WTS will have long stopped publishing the numbers of partakers and can claim that "some" are alive well into the twilight of the 21st century.
Even better, when time runs out they can claim that the GT has started, all anointed are gone to heaven, and we are now in the "unknown period of time" betwteen the start of the GT and the start of Armageddon. Then they can dance around predictions for this "unknown period of time" to keep the R&F in suspense.
It was all planned almost to perfection with multiple redundancies.

I told the elders that I would take blood and donate blood
by Daniel1555 ini found it important to be honest with my wife.
so i told her about my conscience decision that in a medical urgency i want blodless medicine but if a transfusion of blood or the 4 prohibited components is necessary to save my life or health i would accept it.
this would apply especially also for our child (that is not such a problem as in our country the wts recommends to comply with doctors as they have the right to decide concerning minors).. i showed her the reasons why i came to that conscience decision (biblical and logical reasons) and that jehovah and jesus do not like anyone to die because of this wrong bible application.. .

JW Facts
"Non belief is not a judicial matter"? how can you believe the org is the chosen channel of God if you don't believe in God?
i can't believe they are so blinded by their own man made, pharisaical rules that they can't just act the way even they believe Jah would want them to
ridiculous!

Hi Dog and welcome,
I appreciate your posts, and especially post #15. I agree, that these are very compelling reasons to stay. With changes to my family lately I find myself constantly weighing the "pros and cons" if you will, of staying in "the truth".
fortunately for me, I have found others like me (and like you... elders even) that know TTATT and I can have open, candid conversations with them about life, "the truth", etc.
It can be difficult to always be guarded with your words. It can be draining to never just "be yourself". To do this with your own spouse can take a toll on your happiness if you don't have a really good grasp of what exactly you want out of life.
While I understand why you may want to stay (as I am still in myself) I think, at least for me, is that having been a JW for so long now (all of my life) the idea of being happy in "the world" is a complete unknown to me. I have almost no idea what it would be like to have close, endearing freindships with "worldlies". I think its easy for a JW to dismiss the concept of happiness when it comes to "the world" and for that reason I fear the idea of me being as unhappy and lost as I have always viewed them to be. I have freinds that "partied" for 20 years and then came "back to the truth" and now claim they were never happy in the world.
Problem is, we never meet those that leave "the truth" and actaully become happier, we only ever meet the ones that come back and say how miserable they were in the worldI think understanding what "happiness" really means is the key to actually having it. I hope you can understand, and when you do, please tell me! ;)

JJ Abrams and the WTBTS.
by DATA-DOG inyou are probably wondering what these two subjects have in common.
well, i have been pondering something for quite some time.
i have been trying to figure out how explain the recent and huge doctrinal shifts of the wtbts since the 2012 annual meeting, and the accompanying modernizing of the jw official website.

ineresting analogy
i agree they have in effect accomplished a "new timeline".
the old BOrganization was just a platform for this most recent to rise from. It wasn't wrong, it was just the beginning of "this" BOrg.

you haven't accepted blood yet, so you have DONE anything wrong... technically. However, you have "promoted" your opion to your wife, and additionally you have rejected the direction (or at least questioned) of the F&DS.
I believe they will take this in 2 forms. 1 - keep your opinions to yourself and wait on Jehovah, and 2 - do you beleive the F&DS is the sole channel being used by Jehovah.
if you say you accept the F&DS, they will use this to attack your reason for questioning the blood issue in the first place. They will drag this out for a bit and then, since you "accepted" the F&DS as the channel, they will shift back to point 1, that is, keeping your mouth shut about your issues and waiting on Jah.
yes its BS, but many have done this BS dance to keep from being DF'd by plumbers and janitors.
