Some friday morning reflections
by Gorbatchov injust reading all the aawa related topics this morning and it makes me really sad.
i'm not related to aawa, just a fader in western europe and a longtime member of h2o and later on jwd.. it makes me sad to see what's the legacy of the watchtower society religion: kgb style betrayal of family members, making screenshots of facebook group members, just to betray their christian brother and sister to the elders, to interrogate them, try to confess their faults and correct them aggressively.
this behaviour places our religion definitly at the dark pages of history.. it makes me sad to see that some group of good peope, forming an association, then some things going wrong with the important and sacred topic named privacy.

Just want to say to the opening poster Sic, that I'm really sorry for the situation that you've found yourself in through no fault of your own making. I really hope that you can get things sorted out and be able to minimise the damge that's been done to you.
Last night I decided to keep my FB totally disconnected from anything exJW. So the few friends I had from the exJW community are now gone from my list of FB friends (reluctantly). I know I can still keep in touch with them elsewhere and feel it had to be done. I cannot trust FB privacy after this complete fiasco.
When/if I out myself it'll be because it's what I want and not because of being outed by some mess up on FB!

Simon has stated the AAWA facts with exact precision
by james_woods ini think the problem is, as before, how the aawa is handling things and refusing to answer your critics makes things worse.
critics are not people out to get you, they are critical of something that you have done or given the appearance of doing and pr is the job of responding to address the criticisms.. this is the internet people, you can't just pretend that things didn't happen by deleting the comments!
especially not with a group that wants to claim to offer support and be open and honest.

One thing I really appreciate with Simon is his total concern with everyone's right to privacy and if they want it, anonimity. I came across a thread recently about JWD closing down (before JWN) and his refusal to sell it to anyone and if it did go that he would wipe everything, PMs, email addresses, IP adresses. This is the kind of thing you need to keep your trust in someone, be it a person or a group.
AAWA wasn't aware of how slack FB privacy can be and it still could be very damaging. I'm sure they'll do some good and I wish them the best with it but I'm staying right here with Simon's board. If I lose my anonimity here then it'll be my own fault and not his.
Thanks Simon for a great (and SAFE) place to come!

In Practice, the GB Substitutes "The Organization" for Jesus
by Ding inrecently, i have had some pm discussions with a couple of jwn members regarding the extent to which the gb injects itself and the wt organization into the bible message.
one of them encouraged me to post my comments as a topic, so i am doing so here.. .
in the wt religion, everything is about "god's organization.

Totally agree with you Ding! They have completely demoted Jesus and they just can't see it! They see it as disloyalty to God to say anything against 'his Organisation', yet they don't see the disloyalty they show towards his Christ! They are shutting off the Kingdom of heaven to millions and preventing them from accepting Jesus as their mediator, salvation and way to God!
The Organisation is now 'the way the truth and the life'... not Christ! What blasphemy!!

I see the 'birth' of the kingdom as being from when Jesus was resurrected to heaven. The 'woman' arrayed with sun, moon and stars (see Joseph's dream in Gen 37:9,10) as Israel. The 1,260 days in the wilderness as the time open until the gentiles came in. (Rev 12)
This means that Satan was ousted from heaven before Jesus ascended, then began to wage war with the holy ones. I also see Michael the archangel as NOT being Christ.
Witnesses might use the fact that he descended with 'an archangel's voice'. Well the word 'an' indicates there is more than one. Michael in Daniel is spoken of as being 'one of' the foremost princes. Jesus isn't a 'one of' anything. He IS the ONLY one.
It's also interesting that there are 7 angels with 7 trumpets.. are these the archangels, 7 of them? The apocryphal book of Enoch suggests there were 7, Michael being one of them.
It also says in Matt 24:31 that the 'Son of man' sends forth his angels with a great trumpet sound. It makes sense to me that it is not the King who blows the trumpet but his angels heralding his return.
Another point.. Witnesses might say that Rev says Satan is angry because he has only a short period of time. Well, if you've been alive millions or possibly even billions of years wouldn't a couple of thousand years or so be a 'short time'?

CC, I'm happy that you're here. You sound the same sort of elder my hubby is, even though I know he'd never visit here. He's of the same mind as you, he doesn't always agree with things either and is always saying that it's impossible to have all the answers and he won't always go along with things. Even if he's the only elder on the body that disagrees with something because it's not scriptural, he'll stand up for what he believes is right. However he still goes along with things as he still believes it's God's Organisation.
I respect you coming here. You could be a great help to many on here I'm sure.

Welcome stubborn.. I'm glad you've found a REAL family, ones who will love you as you deserve to be loved. Jesus told us we would gain true brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers. Blood means nothing without love and the ones that truly love us are the ones that are our family.
Enjoy your children, they are so precious and take comfort in your new 'family'.

I've got a group on FB, just a small group of friends who like the same singer. I started it as a closed group (group name and members can be seen) to secret group. Anyone within that group can add anyone they like. They press a button and hey presto! friends are added (without their permission) I thought it would send a request to them that they could either accept or reject but no, they were just automatically added. Fortunately for me everyone who was added was happy about it.
AAWA is different. It's an acitivist group and membership (especially if it's open or closed) could cause untold damage. Even if it's secret now, the damage could already have been done.
It didn't have to be only one person who added lots of people, anyone within the group could have done it.
Please, anyone thinking of starting a group like this, be very very careful about who you add. You could be messing with people's lives!
