the bible from genesis to revelation and some apocrypha books are considered "god`s inspired word" written by imperfect men over the centuries.. yet jesus christ who never wrote a single sentence yet claimed to be the son of god and changed the history of the world not by what he said and did ,but by what others claimed he said and did.. moses wrote five books jesus wrote none .. how can jesus be considered greater than moses ?.

did the political powers that be in those days see an advantage of making jesus and christianity an opportunity for power and authority over the population of the time ?.

Actually Moses didn't write the first 5 books, especially considering that the 5th book describes Moses's death.

Nobody knows who wrote these fairy tale books. There is nothing special about the bible. A book that is full of nonsense and contradictions.

Even the things in the bible that you could say are good, are not impressive in anyway. Ohh, "don't kill", "don't rob", "don't sleep with your neighbors wife". We are supposed to be impressed by that? Even other people around the world who don't believe in the bible have figured that out.

You can walk into any book store and find self help books that far ahead of the bible. Books that provide real strategies and methods for living healthy, balanced lives, not the vague and redundant drivel based on middle eastern peasant philosophy.

Jehovah's Witnesses Came to My Neighborhood

for nearly two years i have not seen any jehovah's witnesses going door to door in my neighborhood.

that was not the case when my wife and i first moved here (north central oregon).

in fact, our neighborhood was visited at least once every 4 to 5 months - even in the coldest winter months.

This cart thing is brilliant.

And like someone said here, sometimes there are 3 jdubs standing next to a cart, when not a single conversation is had during the entire shift, and they are all counting the same time.

Why not put a big billboard on top of each kingdom hall with a message to go to Jw.org and then just count 24 hours of preach of daily work for the entire congregation

The Watchtower has been preaching that this supposed persecution is one of the expected steps toward the end. Why worry about it? If it's just part of God's plan, why is there even a need to hide. Surely Jellohoba will have his angelic apparatus tasked to protected the jdubs.

Too bad they don't realize that nobody gives a shit about Jdubs. There will be no ban on any religion, and certainly no ban on a minuscule religion that nobody cares about.

The urgent, lifesaving work of Jehovah's witnesses......hardly!!

since june 2016 i have kept a journal of my encounters with jehovah's witnesses at my door or in my street.

i'm a a nosey bastard and a bit of a home body when i'm not at work so i don't miss much of who comes past my home or knocks at the door.. will and dill.. they came to my door on a wednesday morning around 10:30am mid june 2016, i was on afternoon shift and had been reading bart ehrman "misquoting jesus".. what follows is the conversation as best i could recount after they left;.

of the two young gentlemen, dillon, the younger in appearance introduced will and himself, he then proceeded to present me with a brochure about world conditions supposedly getting worse.. me: i could stand at the door nodding in agreement if you like?

someone using an ethnic accent, making fun of their own race, making fun of someone’s intelligent, etc.

we could laugh without feeling constantly offended , upset or disturbed.

Justin Trudeau has apparently been caught in 'brown face'.A picture has emerged of him 'browning up' at an Arabian themed party from 2001.

And he should be allowed to dress as anybody he wants to, as long as it's not in the intent of disparaging. If someone decides they will dress up as a character who happens to be of another skin color at halloween, and it's done in good spirit, then this is totally fine.

The issue are the droves of idiots, that spend their days trying to come with things to complain about. Just part of the outrage society we live it.

As I told my mother recently, when we start hearing about western countries changing their constitutions to abolish freedom of religion, then I will start attending meetings again. Until then there is simply no evidence that any of this stuff will happen.

No politician is looking to have mass rioting on the streets to deal with because religion is suddenly outlawed.

Well said. in fact i've never hard a JW using the complexity of DNA to support creationism. Dare I say that most JWs don't even know how complex DNA is.

The main reason are always the fact that Bible says God created everything, and the disbelief that human could actually have come from "monkeys" ( as they put it).

The Republican establishment, in all of its disgustingness (other side of Dem establishment coin) handed Trump John Bolton. Even with his mental limitations, Trump was able to figure out that Bolton is a corrupt war hawking POS.

Well said. Probably the most enlightened comment of the entire thread. Bolton was put in place because the Republican establishment wants a war. Being engaged in a war around election time would pretty much seal the election as it did for Bush.

However the Buffoon King is not cooperating. Inviting the Taliban to the US for talks around the 9/11 anniversary . Even Bolton must have had a facepalm moment at that move. No wonder he had to jump ship.

Trump is the new Teflon Don. No matter what he does, whether it is talking about sexually assaulting women, defending dictators, inviting active terrorists for meetings, etc, nothing sticks to him. All of the brainless drones still praise him. Even the Governing Body wishes they had such a good spell on their masses.
