anyone?
i am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.
i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.
i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.
Time out, people.
restrangled: watch it!
this is prompted by a recent thread about the change in baptism vows in 1985,my question is if someone wishes to fade, would a good method be to say "i feel my baptism was not valid and so i'm thinking of getting re-baptised, and then fade, would this not take away all "jurisdiction" by the congo.
as you do not recognise youself as a "jehovah's witness" ?
would it not then be impossible to d'f' or d'a' you?
G'day wobble,
From what I recall, declaring a baptism invalid, whilst not common, has been allowed in some cases - but I would not think it's a good move for anyone but the young! Leading life over many decades and then claiming an invalid baptism is , well, going to draw more attention to yourself than simply drifting off into the shadows, as it were.
BTW got your message - I'll email you later.
Cheers from downunderneath youse lot,
Ozzie
thought this might be of interest.. uncannily similar to jehovahs witnesses.. http://www.sydneyanglicans.net/forums/viewthread/3411/.
if the federal government kept track of how many exjws are diagnosed with PTSD and similar mental illnesses
Officials in the state health department are aware of this from their own statistics - still the WTS are 'the untouchables'.
here's my yearly tips for those unfortunate enough to be going to the assembly.......there's alot of newbies here who just might benefit from sum of deeze tips.
feel free to add your own tips as we all know the lord loves a cheerful giver: going to the assembly this year?
are you ready to fall asleep before the opening song is even done?
Iz dat a good thing or a baaaad thing???
I like wags, they had color to life.
They give some light relief when the room's captive to those real intense people.
They're real good.
I suspect some here take themselves too seriously and we need to lighten up.
We need more wags.
Now where's that grumbly one?

You're a wag, Mary!

yep, Mrs Ozzie and i saw it and we both thought of the parallels to the WTS, especially the shunning and breaking up of families.
Notice how God spoke through th elders? Now where have we heard that before?
on one of those pentecostal cults ,the poor buggers that got out and spoke of their experiences reminded me of the wts so much!

BTW don't assume that Pentecostal and cult are necessarily words that go togther.
terry gave me a copy of "in search of christian freedom"...no disrespect to ray franz...i am bored to tears....can't get past the frist chapter...soaked up coc, turned around and soaked it up again.... highly recomend coc to any jw (one that's not brain dead) or ex-jw (also not brain dead) who needs to know something about how the tower works....great book.... sigh, i seem to no longer have the attention span it takes to read a book of this depth....a sad commentary on me...has the internet dumbed some people down to the point that they can no longer read a book?
if that's what's happended somebody shoot me please... .
