We've been invited to a JC

for those of you don't know our story sweet pea and i stopped attending all meetings quite abruptly about 4 months ago.

since then we have had a few ill-advised conversations with jw friends and family stating our reasons - sometimes in emails.

also sp emailed a new friend on another forum her experiene with going to a new church.

I don't pretend to have the 'right' answers to your question but what i do have is opinions based on the experience that Mrs Ozzie and I had.

I have never believd in DA - personally I think it grants 'them' the recognition that they don't deserve. Sure, many don't go that way and that's fine with me. My best friend took a different path himself and caused quite a stir in the local KH!!

But for us (MRs Ozzie and I) we just got on with our lives and it was several years later that we were finally 'invited' - we refused because we rightly considered the WT an irrelevance in our lives. Our crime? Not fading, oh no, it was attending a church!! - see the parallel with your Alpha course?

I believe we were DF - we've never been told - but I think in your case too, the wheels are in progress, you can't stop it.

Should you fight it? Not likely! They're doing you a favor of the highest order!

How large was your JC?

i saw one comment that indicated a jc was, in his case, made up of 6 elders.

normally i think 3 or 5 is the number.

i think mine was 3 - though i did not attend the party.. jeff .

Mrs ozzie and I didn't have one! We simply refused to attend any meeting, recognising that the borg was irrelevant to our lives - and still is ten years later!

mutual respect

did you ever notice that people who want "mutual respect" or "compromise" or "consensus" or "discussion" really just want you to shut up and listen to them?

they don't really want any of those things; they just want to put the other person in the wrong for disagreeing.

if they really wanted a "discussion," they'd have the courtesy to reply to comments, rather than just do a hit and run sermon.

i used to think that this place was a good spot to recommend for exiting jws.

in some wasy, it still is.

but if they want to test the waters of doctrinal evaluation i believe it is nearly impossible.
