Methinks this could be the 'achilles heel' of the WTS. You raise some very good points; ones that JWs 'lurking' here would do well to contemplate, for those exercising the lead at the present time claim for themselves special authority based upon their identification with this 'prophetic' F&DS.

If you check the Witnesses' own Bible reference work "Insigt on the Scriptures" you see that the article entitled "Faithful & Discreet Slave" omits to mention this continuation over two thousand years. Instead it introduces the article with the words "When answering the apostles' question concerning his future presence and the conclusion of the existing system of things, Jesus Christ included a prable, or illustration, dealing with a 'faithful and discreet slave' and an 'evil slave'."

Thus the ensuing activity of a faithful & discreet slave operating from the time of Christ until the 'time of the end' is completely ignored.

Mrs Ozzie has been most interested in this topic in past months and questioned a more knowledgable of the elders on this topic, as to what he understood about who the F&DS was over the past 2,000 years. He replied with some certainty that he believed the Society taught that it was Christendom until 1919 when the reigning Christ Jesus came and inspected , and removed Christendom's authority to speak in his name and gave it to those associated with the Bible Students.

This, of course, begs the question that you raise, Who was the 'slave' in the time of Pastor Russell? and Why did he not be viewed as unfaithful to the Lord by starting up his own religious group?

What a great 'Questions from Readers' that would make!

May I add my welcome now to you newbies who have responded to Older Tom's invitation. You will find this is a Home Sweet Home which usually is full of fellow feeling and compassion. Sometimes we get a bit 'steemed up', but then, I guess you do too, don't you?

Stay awhile and you may learn heeps more from your companions. And they won't report you to the elders!

aren't you able to defend your god the watchtower corporation against some simple questions?.

i'm sure if you went to the elders and told them some interested person you met on the internet wanted answers they would help you to make a good witness for the organisation.. why not ask them fred after all they are there to help you.

May I ask you, how do you know that buscar didn't wait 5 years and the elders still haven't visited? Do you live in his congregation area? Do you know the elders? Do you know anything of buscar's situation? So how can you say it's not true? What does the scripture say: "Out of the heart's abundance, the mouth speaks".

BTW I happen to KNOW buscar's telling the truth.

i have been a jw for 20 yrs and still active(family reasons).

but nobody but nobody has refuted to my mind, the fact nobody does the evangelizing work jesus did.
