BTW did you notice that OBVES joined JWD in '01 but took a break from 2/02 until 8/07 ?
OBVES: where were you? Just curious I guess.

He spams this one
Perhaps. I must admit that we (mods) are unsure that it falls into any category and so as you can see, OBVES has been 'allowed' to use up his full quota of 2 new threads a day for what seems like forever. I really don't know how consuming so much time on a db is at all mentally healthy for anyone.
I'd suggest that the best way to handle spammers is to ignore them, replies only encourage 'em!!

Digital Camera Finally busted...Yay !!!
by JH inafter 5 years of service and 17,000 pictures of me, my hewlett packard photosmart 618 finally died.. .
for some reason, even with fresh batteries or even plugged in an ac outlet, it won't turn "on".
looks as if it's the on and off switch problem.

My Kodak DX6490 has served me well and I've taken thousands of shots in different parts of the world, some of them rather unfriendly to the camera, still it provided good pictures which I could readily forward by email. This year it had been getting slower and slower and finally I bit the bullet a month ago and bought a Canon. I was attracted to a Canon because I'm familiar with their SLRs (I have an EOS 50E and B&W handprinting is my real love) and I've got a PowerShot S5 IS. I've tried it out on an overseas trip and it's coming through well.

Welcome aboard, Dianna and a big G'day! from downunder!
Thank you for introducing yourself and letting us know a bit about your situation.
Many, many here have been through this. For Mrs Ozzie and myself, we can relate to what you're 'saying' and know that you have started along a road to freedom. We were active dubs for about 50 years.
You've made the first step and now the road will at times be difficult and at other times be full of joy! Things tend to get into perspective after a while - right now the wound is raw but gradually you'll experience such a great sense of a load being taken from your shoulders that you'll be amazed you didn't do it sooner!
You asked how life is after leaving the organisation and for Mrs Ozzie and I it's wonderful! We say this despite losing all our family and relatives. Yes, despite this we have a wonderful life, renewed health and, most important of all, a deep faith and christian commitment. No, we don't recommend one church over another but simply say that this is how we have found life for what has been determined for us and for this we are so thankful.
Do your reading - I recommend "Crisis of Conscience" and "In Search of Christian Freedom" by Ray Franz for starters because those two books will validate your own thoughts and help you see that you're not crazy after all!
You could also try Randy Watters website http://www.freeminds.org/ where you'll be able to read many experiences of others who've left the "Organisation™" and there are many resources available. Randy is always giving kindly help and support to people in their exiting the Borg.
In the meantime, enjoy the journey to freedom!
Cheers, Ozzie

Once again the Writing Department trot out their 'horse chestnut' of a text (John 4:24) and as usual they completely misapply it!!
Dubs seem never to consider the context of scripture passages and this is no exception.
Read, in context, we read of Jesus' encounter with a Samaritan woman and the conversation centres around the proper place of worship. Jesus teaching is that the place of worship is not important but the manner, i.e. in Christ, is of the greatest importance.
Thus, it seems irrelevant to apply this to the place where a wedding takes place.

The cover interests me - it seems to be a colorised version of the cover used in the 50s and early 60s - anyone remember them?
It was in the days before computer graphics and the illustrations in the WT were line drawings.
I wonder what happens to the under-employed Graphics Department now that they don't have to produce so many 'arresting' covers?

X--JW WarFare..."OUTLAW Style"
by OUTLAW ingood evening from "the great white north",jwd!
!..this is an incredible board..we are all so lucky to have our hosts, mods and (most)members of this site..lol!
!.....so many ideas.so many personalities.so much exchange of knowledge and ideas.right here on jwd!.....this thread was inspired by another thread..thank-you "hidden window"!.....i hope this thread inspires other "ideas",just like i was inspired by another thread......................many of us want to show our loved ones and the rest of the world, the "real wbt$".....we want to get our loved ones out of a "cult"..and..the international political world will bring the wbt$ down, when they can no longer disguise themselves as a religion.....the wbt$ is a political organization, disguised as a religious organization seeking "world domination"!.....most of us are not ready to take on a billion dollar organization, the wbt$.....we only want our families back!.....not all jw`s are ready to read ray franz`s:"crisis of conscience"..or..barbera andersons new cd:"secrets of pedophilia in an american religion.jehovah`s witness`s in crisis"..but..some are!

Shunned by my SIL the B........
by AK - Jeff inshunning still hurts for me, i admit it.
though i have no common ground with these people any longer, it is just the idea that i am treated as evil for nothing more than exiting the religion.
i was in a chinese rest on wednesday.

Early on in my ex-dub days, it amused me somewhat how I was shunned by a certain young married man. You see, as an elder I had previously had much to do with him. During his periods of fornicating, I chaired his JC. We took a very 'understanding' line (for which at the time he claimed he was very appreciative), - we saw that it was better to restore a man than punish him. I regularly met with him.
Anyway, here I was, no longer an elder, no longer a dub, part of the "evil" apostates and here he was, swanning around as if he was the most righteous of souls and he seemed to display a well-practiced shun.
It made me laugh to see the ludicrous side of the whole thing.
I often wonder what became of him. did he manage to follow the Witness way or did he......?
If you're out there, Corrie, give us a call.
