  it's the forum's 16th birthday today!.

  amazing that not only have we lasted so long but we're still thriving and growing.. thanks to all the people and often colorful characters who've contributed to the site over the years.

  some are still here with us, some have since moved on, but all have touched each others lives in some way along our different journeys.. .

  Whatever happened to "YOU'RE WELCOME"? Has "NO PROBLEM" replaced it?

  wherever i go, i say "thank you" to clerks, servers, delivery people, hosts and hostesses and the response has become invariable: "no problem!".

  have i aged to the point i'm now an old fuddy duddy who doesn't "get it"?.

  is it counted mannerly to avoid, "you're welcome" in favor of "no problem"?.

  by no means is this a heartwarming "experience" illustrating how an ex-jw skillfully "reached the heart" of a current jw, moving them to re-examine their belief system.

  that won't be my take on my half hour visit with an elder's wife last sunday.

  no one scored points here as is almost always the case in these interactions.. we live at the extreme southern tip of texas, on the u.s.-mexico border in a city of about 200,000. twenty years ago there were 20 spanish language congregations, 2 english.

  New ways of Witnessing a bit creepy I think

  so i started a new job and take the train everyday into the downtown core to my office.i have noticed everyday right when you leave the station there is a display case with watchtower pamphlets and magazines for the public to take.

  at first i didnt see the witnesses standing close by monitoring the display case but one day as i looked over a few feet away i saw a man and a woman dressed in their best field service attire chatting away.

  i found this a bit odd as when i was a witness we always went door to door.

  I find it kinda creepy the way the brothers and sisters stand there close enough to where the display is but far enough away so that the public is not aware that they are watching them.

  so an old friend of mine from the congregation hit me up today.

  the story goes like this when we were jw's:.

  - this guy used to be madly in love with me but i didn't see him as anything more than a friend.

  So the Guy couldn`t be bothered with you for 8 years?

  the ONLY thing you can say to me is not (how are you) or even (are you ok) - but telling me how I need to come back because Ive been out long enough..

  When he does contact you it`s to preach,nothing more..

  he really did throw in a lil emotional 'hook' and I am the type that just cannot let that slide! I HAVE to respond...but I want to be smart about it, instead of my usual snarky ass self!

  What?!.....After he wrote this?!.....Your a Friggin Jezebel.....LOL!!..

  No matter what you have done Jehovah has the ability to forgive you.

  it occurred to me while at today's wt study that over 100 people were wasting an hour of their life studiously examining the differences between two delusions, paradise earth and the heavenly hope.

  everyone made it sound so serious when in reality it means nothing at all.

  either choice is wrong and foolish nonsense.. it was mentioned that mark sanderson found his heavenly calling at very young age.

  The people are mobilizing Mr Drumpf

  protesters shut down a trump rally.

  massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.

  there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.
