Surviving the Economic Depression

first, let's clear something up: for many people, it's no longer a question of recession - the depression is here and may last for many years!.

this could be true if you live in many parts of europe, or africa or ...... michigan!

let the 'experts' quibble over definitions, to me jobless rates of 15 to 20 % with little hope of change signals a depression where you live.. some suggestions:.

i have not posted since last may, and prior to that, about a year before.

in july 08 i returned to my engineering career, and now work at a nuclear power station.

life here in wisconsin is very good ... the culture is generaly laid back, but it's colder than hell.

Who was the biggest Jehovah's Witness rebel?

who was raised a jw and went on to lead life in stark contrast to their upbringing?.

i have often thought the award should go to dwight eisenhower.

from a religion that railed against politics and warfare he first invaded western europe and then went on to become president of the united states.

If my memory serves me correctly, Eisenhower's parents (maybe just mother) were associated with a group called River Bretheren when he was younger and then later when Dwight was an adult, then became Jehovah's Witnesses (Bible Students).

Got a new Blackberry yesterday

my company just got many of us a new blackberry curve.

it will take me ages to understand all it can do... camera, video, email, internet, maps, contacts...sheesh..it goes on forever, not to mention the phone and instant messaging..... i keep pushing the wrong button when someone calls...so i disconnect... or get an email and think it's a phone call and try to answer it... and oh...the tiny tiny keypad!.

i'll catch on eventually.... all i can say is that technology has come a very long way!.

i have a client that is very ill - nita - she's been undergoing treatment for cancer and i said i'd keep her in my thoughts and that i would ask others to do as well.. if you know of anyone else that needs a bit of a pick me up please add their names here.. to those of you that are down and things don't seem so great right now, keep going, even if for now it seems a struggle.. lots of love xx.
