Non-JWs: Concerned friend or family is getting involved with Jehovahs Witnesses?
by Londo111 indear non-jw:.
do you have a friend or family member who is studying?
there are definitely valid reasons to be concerned, be it shunning, the many failed doomsday predictions, the risks of refusing blood transfusions, the organizations unrepentant mishandling of child abuse, the stance of higher education, holidays, and everyone outside the organization.. however, how you express your concern to them could make all the difference.

The Jonestown Massacre, Remembered
by Londo111 inhttp://time.com/3583781/jonestown-massacre/.
it was 36 years ago today.. the watchtower has caused far more deaths due to the blood transfusion ban and the suicides from disfellowshipping.
unfortunately, these deaths are mostly invisible to the public, since they didnat occur at once and in one location.. .

Year 3: Personal Experiences
by Londo111 inhttp://youtu.be/nnnabt9x5lm?list=plynx0om_bmgdobkrzev2tax1jzdquagy8.
this is my third year since i signed up on jwn and i wanted to do something a bit different--a slight unmasking of sorts and greet everyone face to face.
even with the help of a few notes, this is rambling, raw, and by no means the best personal experience video out there.

The Day Armageddon Came
by Londo111 inmy grandfather only had a third grade education and knew little about the bible when jws called on him.
he was a different breed of jw than those of modern times.
he truly cared about people and would give them the shirt off his back.

Four Levels of Shunning
by Londo111 inremember: the word shun means to avoid, especially persistently.. level 1. official watchtower policy makes extreme shunning mandatory for those disfellowshipped or disassociated.
there are, of course, two loopholes:.
(1) one is not shunned if living in the same household...but this works as long as one is not kicked out of their own home (like raypublisher was) or if the jw decide to leave as a consequence.. (2) one may do necessary family business..but this is open to interpretation and obviously relations are very uncomfortable and strained.. but for those two loopholes, a jw may not speak to the person shunned, not even to say hello.

The Gentile times have ended; their kings have had their day.
by Londo111 indear jw,.
on october 2, 1914a hundred years ago todaycharles t. russell announced, the gentile times have ended; their kings have had their day.
for almost 40 years, among other predictions for that year, 1914 had been looked to as the end of armageddon, false religion, and all governments, and the beginning of paradise on earth and the resurrection.

Just wondering: Does the Watchtower lobby lawmakers?
by Londo111 injust putting that question out there...not saying they are or are not.
of course, if they did, the hypocrisy would be teaching their adherents to be neutral and to stay out of politics, as well as vilifying other religious organizations for getting involved in the political process.. my first reaction is that i wouldnt think the watchtower would get involved in politics, however, i would never have dreamed they were an ngo of the un for 10 ten years.
or involved in the osce.
