I can't believe how guilty I used to feel when there was a deficit announcement. I regret every bit of money I ever gave Watchtower.

Could this be the reason for one day assemblies
by Sour Grapes inlast saturday i sat through the one day assembly and i waited for the anticipated accounts report.
for one day the costs were $10,000.
even my wife questioned why the costs are so high and why don't they give a break down on the costs?

Song 146 - You did it for me
by Listener inthe watchtower 1970 4/1 emphasis the principle that singing at the kingdom hall is part of worship to god and is one of the most beautiful ways they can show this worship to him.. of all the ways in which we can worship and praise jehovah god—by prayer, by public talks, by our field ministry and by our exemplary conduct—one of the most beautiful of them is this literal singing of songs to jehovah’s praise....and, above all, let us pay more than usual attention to the words.
it is by the words that we worship jehovah god, bringing praise to him.
as an introduction to song 146, jw org states -jesus considers any act of love and support for his anointed brothers as though it were done for him.

While thousands of JWs profess to be anointed, it remains that, a profession. However, there are seven men in this organization whose “annointedness” is beyond question.
There’s enough plausible deniability to say this song is about the “anointed remnant”, but in reality it really means the Governing Body.

An ex-JW's interpretation on "All Along the Watchtower" by Bob Dylan
by intropist inmade by bob dylan and far-famed with the fantastic guitar playing of jimmy hendrix, "all along the watchtower" has been leaving great signatures in the pop history.
i want to have a chance to drop my own interpretation.
reading the below, you may need to take into consideration the fact that i'm not a native speaker in english.. [all along the watchtower] written by bob dyan - full lyrics.

It should be: Elders, they drink my wine

With up to 70% of young ones leaving what's the future of the jw's?
by karter inthey wlll always have new people coming in but the majority of the congro's are getting older particularly the inner city ones were it is expensive to live.
they are struggling to get men to be elders and m.s's and this can only get worse as very few young ones stay around.

It's a cult. Not everyone gets or remains indoctrinated.
99.99% of those preached to are not interested and most who do study eventually quit along the way.
Those who are born-in do not have a choice but to undergo the indoctrination process. But even so, only a minority get and stay indoctrinated. Even for those indoctrinated, eventually some do fall afoul of the many rules and find themselves thrown out.
I wish I had been smart enough to get while the getting was good like most of the other kids who I grew up with.

Imperfect Spiritual Food
by berrygerry inthe feb 2017 wt is being reviewed here because of the "neither inspired nor infallible" potential of the gb.. https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6237447308443648/major-doctrinal-changes-must-on-way.
this indeed has been stated in the past.. an equally interesting phrase in that paragraph is: "of course, jesus did not tell us that his faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food.".
again, wt is using the "jesus never said" line.. what would make more sense is: "jesus never said that the food would be imperfect or harmless.".

Matthew 24:45 is the most important Watchtower teaching, but is not a self-consistent teaching, which Captives of a Concept deftly dissected.
The "spiritual food" served should be "faithful and discreet", so while not expecting "perfection", one simply could look over the years to examine whether the spiritual food was faithful and discreet. An examination of this history shows teachings that were far, far from this.

Major Doctrinal Changes Must Be On The Way
by notsurewheretogo inthe statement in the article "who is leading gods people today?
" in the feb 17th study edition of the wt is very interesting.. it states: ""the g.b.
is neither inspired nor infallible" ..we can err .in doctrinal matters....".

I agree that a symbolic 144000 meaning an small, unspecified number would not be that radical.

Why Is it the Girls who Hang in There?
by snugglebunny inhaving seen many, many people leave the org over the years, i have to say that, when it comes to married couples, it's almost always the man who makes the first move to leave.
conversely, when it comes to being converted into the witnesses, more often than not it's the wife who joins up first.
although that wasn't the case with my own parents, my father became converted and my mother followed very reluctantly..

The JW culture is not one that encourages education and I think the culture tends to mold women to be even more on the uneducated than even a male JW.
