Prince and addictive drugs…a possible loophole?
by Londo111 inaccording to the elder's rulebook, there is this addendum in the chapter on the grounds for judicial committee and the section: "misuse of addictive drugs":.
please note: the use of addictive drugs under medical supervision, such as for pain management, would not necessarily require judicial review.
when questions arise, consult with the branch office.. .

I remember the line that went something like: "Oh, it's not theocratic activities that are a burden, it is the pressure from the world!"

A way to get the "branch or congregation" off the hook legally, but in practice it changes nothing. -

There are a few inaccuracies.
The "second coming" aka "invisible presence" was viewed as starting in 1874. 1874 and the endpoint of the "time of trouble" 1914, were all Barbour's calculations. It was only years after Russell's death that the Watchtower changed the "invisible presence" to 1914.

Regional Convention
by raven inso how many are not going to the regional convention this year?
it will be my first year not attending as part of my fade.. i remember going for all of my childhood into adult hood, participating in stage parts even.. however, last assembly i was already mentally checked out.
i remember looking around and seeing all of people bobbing & nodding at the program talks that had been previously repeated time and time again.. almost seemed like hypnosis.. i also had a hard time with the fact that we're all supposed to be "friends" and everyone had always seemed to be so judgmental.. especially at conventions & assemblies.. things like who had the best outfit for the days, who looked the prettiest, who can snag the single ms brother.. who took the most spiritual food out of the program, how many times can you tally mark jehovah's name.

I haven't attended a convention since 2009. Of course, I didn't wake up until 2011.I skipped 2010 due to personal problems, but had I attended, the "overlapping" generations teaching would've woken me up earlier and saved me allot of grief.

I've had elders "encourage" me to take anti-anxiety pills to "take the edge off", so I could overcome anxiety to do “necessary” things like going door to door. Also, some of them said their pioneer wife takes them. It's likely the only way to keep up such a stressful lifestyle. -

Having a friend/mentor like Larry Graham on the elder body might help too. -

The Congregational Make Up Research Project: WTB&TS wants to know you.
by oppostate inwe have a bethel speaker on the english side.
they're pretty regular up here since it's only three and a half hours drive from nyc.. but this is a special kind of visit.. it turns out he's involved in doing a special research project and the christian congregation of jw's wants to know us better.. in order for the broadcasting to address issues more meaningful for families, they want to know the demographic make up of the congregations.. he spoke with the secretary about young single publishers and couples 20-35 y.o.
how are they employed.
