How soon until they are cut altogether?

this article was published by the wts on their website.. i find this jw practice of targeting vulnerable populations to be so disturbing.
the last thing that canadian aboriginal communities need is yet another institution that victimizes their members.. http://www.jw.org/en/news/releases/by-region/canada/inuit-bible-education-northern-canada/.

As Steven Hassan has pointed out, intelligence is no indicator that a person will not fall prey to a cult.

whats the wackiest thing that someone reported on you?
im not talking about a black-and-white watchtower rule that would land you in a judicial committee, but some judgmental nonsense that someone thought they should turn you in about?.
Why did they report?
I guess the environment of undue influence can make people really petty. And this "ultra-righteous" couple was really petty, ever picking someone apart, ever complaining. Nothing is ever good enough.
When it comes to dating and marriage, the organization presents lots of Catch-22s: Only date if you intend to marry and only marry if you are capable of supporting a family...BUT "put the kingdom first" and pioneer, don't get higher education, take a part-time job so that a person is not even capable of supporting themselves. This is why I didn't go on my first date until 29.
You got to get to know your intended well, but...always have a chaperone or date in a group and never so much as ride alone in the car with her! Arranging a date becomes a nightmare.
There is a group dynamic too that seems at work. Even with all the Watchtower ducks in a row checked, certain pairings are welcomed, whereas certain pairings are not. There might not even be a solid reason for this by JW 'logic'. Some will go out of their way to put a stop to the pairing.
i'm wondering why ones on this forum initially became jw's.
if you were born in, why did you make it "your own"?
if you became one later, what was your draw and driving force?
Born in: third generation from both sides of my family. Both my grandfathers were elders. My father was an elder, a presiding overseer sometimes. For a brief span, my grandfather, grandmother, mother and myself were all regular pioneering at the same time.
What chance did I have to make an informed decision? I became an unbaptized publisher at 8…I don’t remember making that ‘decision’. When I was 15, I saw other kids getting baptized and felt it was something I should do too. When I was 17 and going through a period of doubts about the religion and entertaining the idea of joining another, my father threatened to throw me out the moment I turned 18 and called in a persuasive, charismatic elder that swayed me back.
All information I was ever given was one sided: 607, 1914, the 1260 days, 1919, ect… and I had no access to factual information that gave a more complete picture. Based on the ‘information’ I was given, it did seem like it was the “Truth”.

Donny: I informed on myself and my wife for a similar reason. It’s crazy looking back that I put my wife and myself through that. It is interesting the chapter of Crisis of Conscience that tackled that subject.
- tony morris will rant about apostates anonymously sending him pink socks.. - david splane will say that though types and anti-types are no longer jw doctrine, that doesn't mean that the gb can't bring them back anytime they want.
obey, or else we'll bring them back!.
- sam herd gives a talk about "wimmen, whisky and makin' whoopie".

Before the prequels disgraced cinemas everywhere, they were promoting Star Wars, showing the original trilogy in movie theaters with new special effects.
Sam Herd was then the DO and was “serving” our congregation, we were the host congregation I think, and he brought up Star Wars. He said he couldn’t recommend the movie because it “promoted war”, but then went on to talk about the voice of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones. I forgot what his point was.
My mother went up to him after the meeting and asked him if he wanted to go see Star Wars with her. LOL.
i was paired with this older "brother" when i was a teenager.
he was very very strange.
he was a nice guy but goofy.

Morpheus,
Was this the Star Wars prequels? If I can find out what congregation you are in, I might have to inform on you about the matter myself since you subjected your son to such a monstrosity of a movie! :)
