Let's review: It's a cult!
i'm a born in, born in the 1980s and old enough to remember studying beefy (albeit full of crap) material like the the evolution book and revelation book (which we studied over and over and over and over).
books and brochures were wordy and chock full of legalistic language explaining away teachings and policies, some explanations slightly above the iq of the average person.. watchtower studies were longer (30 paragraphs sometimes), talks were longer and thus meetings were longer, pioneering was harder (70 hours if i remember correctly), assemblies and conventions were longer, and there were intricate food provisions to feed thousands of people (for a cost of course).. the average jw could recite watchtower propaganda for hours to indoctrinate others or defend their faith.
jws were interested in having meaty discussions at the door and challenging even pastors on doctrinal points.. i know this has been said many times, but the organization has gone through a massive dumbing down.. i can't figure out if it's due to the oblivious nature of the current governing body, a premeditated attempt by them at dumbing down the organization, or just the effects of life becoming easier around the globe due to reliance on technology.. i can only speak on my era, and i know that from the early 90s until around 2004 the organization was allot more doctrine savy.. over the past decade or so i'd say the collective iq of the followers has moved from 105 to 85.. indoctrination and blind belief has allot to do with being prone to be emotionally manipulated, but thinking ability has a say in that too.. social media is a decent gauge of how and what the average person within a certain demographic is thinking, and doing a simple hashtag search on twitter, instagram, or facebook reveals allot about how the current generation of young jws (15-28 or thereabout) are thinking.. many have become self obsessed, internet obsessed, hubris filled and passive, i can see an even bigger decline in growth over the next 5 years.. take a look:.
The Daniel book was the last "meaty" publication. Around 2000/2001, the publications were dumbed down and the tone grew harsher.
Was it a love letter? The GB loves you very much!

posted on august 20, 2014 by barbara.
from august 1 3, kerry louderback wood* and i attended the 2014 annual snap** conference, which was also its twenty-fifth anniversary celebration, in chicago, illinois.. .
Thank you for your hard work.
probably nothing of major note but there is an adjustment to the service meeting of w/c 1st september to allow for a 15 min local needs the society have asked the elders to deliver.
this is in uk and i've no idea if it affects other regions.. if it's uk only then i suspect it's either specifically about donations or more likely the status of the new branch facility, asking for volunteers/money.
given that the elder delivering it in our hall is prominent on the local rbc then i suspect the latter.. .
If it is UK only, I wonder if it is related to the charity investigation.
well, that seems to be the latest hot thing amoung witnesses.
everybody buys a tablet.
even the poor families that eat carb heavy meals are gettin' em.. maybe they can't afford the latest apple product like the maxi/mini pad or whatever they're calling it these days so a trip to ebay or overstock.com fills the bill.. use it instead of a songbook.

Y'all forgot to add a "We are pleased..." in there for good measure.
"las obligaciones que este nuevo regimen fiscal nos pide: llevar de manera electronica un registro de todas sus operaciones de ingresos y egresos; tener documentacion comprobatoria de cada operacion, acto o actividad; enviar informe contable mensual a traves de la pagina del sat; expedir comprobante fiscal digital por internet (cfdi).".

roughly traslated: the requirements of the new fiscal system require: to record electronically a ledge of all income and expenses; to record and document all operations, acts or activities, to send a registed monthly report through sat's (kind of like the irs in the us) website, submit comprobante fiscal digidtal por internet (cfdi) (sort of tax form) .
It’s called transparency. Organizations should be open with this information not just to the government, but to the public. Ideally, ‘we the people’ are the government, though unfortunately that is not often how it works out.
km august 2014, page 3 paragraph 6(article for this week's service meeting):.
"the month of october 2014 will see the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the kingdom.
for this occasion a special edition of the watchtower will be on this theme.".
